Photography has an astonishing ability – it has the ability produce graphics of frozen time. In that frozen time – people, animals, the weather and the plants appear in still position, forever frozen to eternity. In the movie – lost in space of 1998, one scene there shows the whole family frozen in time while moving in hyperspace. Just how photography came into being? Well, it started with the invention of the camera. In brief history, the early enthusiasts made the camera obscura, where a closed or darkened room receives projected light. That projected light projects image into a smooth surface or a wooden board where an artist can trace the image projection.

The camera obscura leads to the development of the modern camera and the digital camera. Louis Daguerre made the first photograph of his balcony and soon subsequent camera models came establishing Daguerrotype cameras. In the 20th century, inventors made breakthrough by developments in electronic circuits and lenses. Now, everybody can enjoy photographing anything from their smartphones, tablets and digital cams.

The modern digital photography gave way to different uses of photography. And if you live in San Francisco, California, you can find various uses of photography such as aerial photography in San Francisco and travel photography in San Francisco – Just two of the many uses of photography. Whatever are the uses, still a good photography matters in any use and any kind. The following are the details on how to get the most out of your inexpensive digital still camera.

If you saw a professional camera such as used by professional photographers in business and architectural photography in CA, you might think that they are the only ones who can snap a perfect photo. Even, with an amateur photography skills and an inexpensive digital still camera you can catch a stunning photo of your favorite park such as the Grand Canyon or the Niagara falls.

First, know first if the place’s light angle or orientation and the light intensity. When you snap a photo of a person with the light in the background, his image can appear a little dark. Also, a darkened room requires a good quality flash. Another solution is to approach the subject a little to allow your flash to illuminate it.

Second, you may wonder why you even used a flash; still, the subject is dark. In this case, you might rely in flash power, as if the flash can take care of the darkened room area. Using a digital camera, you have to light the background. Set your camera in a manual power setting. Another is to reduce exposure to make light reach the lens in a given time.

Third, buy a stable tripod. You can find an inexpensive aluminum and steel tripod. The more stable the camera, the better the picture. Additionally, you can buy a camera with anti blur or anti shake features to capture moving objects or if you are moving.

Next is to reduce red eye by using a camera red eye reduction from your cam. Most manufacturers include eye reduction in digital camera. With just a one control, that red eye flash can synchronize with flash and thus produce a nice photograph without a creepy looking Dracula subject or a hair raising red glowing eyes.

Next, is to know, that your eye has better dynamic range than your camera. Our eyes have a better dynamic range than the camera. Dynamic range means the difference between the extremes of darkness and lightness. Your eyes can aid you in perfecting a good exposure snapshot. Lighten the dark areas with reflector or flash. And darken by moving the subject to the darker area.

Always, check your camera settings. You can find various controls in your cam and learn how to use them. This may sound obvious, but many novice photographers make mistakes by not minding about the settings. They just take out the camera and start shooting without thinking if their camera has its red eye off or its shutter speed set to low.

Further, is to take advantage of the photo editing softwares such as adobe photoshop CS6, or if you want a free version – GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program). These tools can further help you edit, modify and improve your photos.

With a practice, blend of your photography skills and good selection of camera, you can produce stunning photos without investing in too expensive cameras and lenses that can break your bank.
