3 Secrets To Marketing Your Photography Business

Marketing a photography business is a lot like trying to lose weight. We all know the things we need to do - eat more vegetables, cut back on soft drinks, no fast food, etc. However, most people still struggle with dieting. So why do we have so much trouble with something when we already have the answer? Because the answer doesn't solve the problem. It still takes action to solve the problem. Marketing your photography business is no different.

The Secrets

I'm going to share with you what I consider to be three very important keys to marketing your business. As you read them, you might think to yourself, "Yeah, I've heard that one already." If that happens, answer this question: Have you actually TRIED the strategy? If not, now is the time to give it a try. Ready? Ok, here we go!

Social Media

Whether or not you like social media, it is here to stay. Facebook and Twitter are not going anywhere in the near future - so why not hop on the bandwagon? I'm not saying you have to spend 5 hours a day updating your Facebook profile. In fact, that is what I DON'T want you to do. If you follow a good plan, you can spend an hour a week and still maintain a presence online. You just need to keep your name out there. People rely on the internet for all their information now. If you don't keep your name in front of them, someone else will!

Customer Service

This one often gets neglected. If your current customers are not satisfied, how do you expect to get any word-of-mouth promotion? Even worse, what if those customers don't return to you for their next session? When times are slow, that is your chance to go above and beyond to deliver exceptional customer service. People will notice and be more likely to recommend you to their friends. Not only is this type of marketing cheaper than any other form of advertising, it is also more effective. People are MUCH more likely to act on a friend's recommendation than on an ad they see somewhere.

I can almost guarantee you are not doing this one! Having a consistent newsletter is one of the best ways to keep in front of your clients and potential customers. Best of all, it can be fairly inexpensive. A simple email newsletter helps you to build a rapport with your clients and lets you track the results to see who is interested in your special offers. Since most people don't stick with this, you won't have a whole bunch of competition. You just need to be disciplined and follow through with your plans. Set aside some time to market your business and make it happen!

Don't Stop There

The beauty of the internet is that there are literally THOUSANDS of websites offering you all kinds of marketing tips and tricks. Dedicate some time every month to searching out new opportunities. By staying ahead of the curve, you will get the jump on your competition and grow your business by leaps and bounds. So what are you waiting for? Go for it!
