If you need a destination wedding photographer in Santorini, Greece you are one lucky person. Santorini is an impossibly gorgeous location to have your wedding, and it deserves to be captured by someone who takes amazing photographs.
The problem with taking the photographer the resort recommends is that those photographers do such a high volume of weddings that they don’t have the ability to create something as special and unique as your wedding deserves. Let’s be honest: You didn’t choose to have your wedding in Santorini over looking the turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea because you wanted something run of the mill, you did it because you wanted it to be incredibly special, and your wedding photos should reflect that.
Here are a few things to think about when choosing a destination wedding photographer for your wedding in Santorini.
1. Play Nice Together. It is imperative that you get along with your wedding photographer. It’s kind of charming to have a waiter with whom you have significant cultural differences. It might be romantic to have a priest who can barely speak english but tries really hard. But if you have a wedding photographer who either can’t speak proper english or is at a completely different place than you are culturally speaking, there’s a good chance you might not enjoy your wedding day as much as you should
2. Scandinavia. As far as Europe goes, Scandinavia is the closest you can get to the same culture os North America. They speak excellent english, and share the same values that we do. The other thing is that it costs about a quarter the price to fly someone from Sweden or Denmark to Santorini as it does to fly someone from the U.S. You do the math.
3. Same same. Getting back to the photographer that the resort or wedding planner will offer you, imagine how excited you would get about taking pictures of the same place over and over again. We humans are wired to get used to things really quickly. It’s part of what makes us so adaptable to going through tough circumstances in our lives, but it also keeps us from enjoying and appreciating beautiful things and places as much as we should.
It might just be me, but if I were choosing a photographer for my wedding I would want someone who was as excited about the location as I was, particularly for a place as small as Santorini. Maybe for a wedding in New York I might want a photographer who knew their way around town, but not on a Greek island.
Best of luck in your search for a destination wedding photographer in Santorini Greece.
