It's fairly easy to acquire a camera and find some free photography tutorials online to start learning photography. I myself got a lot of help from those free photography lessons posted online. If only I can meet those guys who made those lessons so that I will them a hug. However, no matter how good learning free photography tutorials online is, it has also some downsides.
I know we can acquire a lot of specific skills in photography online. I remembered the time when I first bought my camera. I wanted to achieve a shallow depth of field where in my subject would be clear and the background blurred. However I can't find the way how to do it even if I kept on reading the camera manual. So where did I go and ask? Of course, thanks God for the internet. I typed the brand of my camera and found other users of it. I searched further by asking how to achieve depth of field with this kind of camera and in just some minutes, I found the answer. I then immediately grabbed my camera and applied it. It worked so I posted in Facebook the shots I took. Many of my friends liked it and even some gave positive comments.
Finding specific free photography tutorials online is limitless. You can learn from the basics of compositions to how to operate your camera and even how to edit your photos. Most of the lessons even have examples of those photo compositions they wanted to teach. Even without reading their description will already give us hints on what a good or bad photograph looks like.
I can promote free photography tutorials in the internet. They are really good specially for those who are still beginners in the field of photography. However, only relying to those freebies also have downsides. It's true that we can learn a lot from them but we might be left behind if we only rely from them. Why? Well, think of it. Because they are free and almost anyone can just learn them, anyone can have those skills as easy as it is. Most artists encourage us to be unique in our art. You might learned photography but the skills you got is already known by others too. So do you think you can still compete?
It's good to learn from free photography tutorials. It actually save us a lot of money. But if we wanted to go beyond being just a mediocre, then I suggest paying some price. It doesn't hurt to spend something as long as you will learn things that your competitors do not yet know. And being unique and more advanced can give you more success in photography.
