Most of us enjoy the spirit of Christmas and the excitement during the festive time. Regardless of religion, there is a buzz in the air a feeling of magic and excitement that is tangible. Christmas poems are a joy to read at Christmas time, but it’s nice to read Christmas poetry throughout the year as well to recapture the joy of Christmas at anytime.
Christmas poems are often used for greeting cards to send to friends and family, but they are also great as gifts.
This year I did some personalised framed poems and they went down really well. The great thing for me about giving someone a Christmas poem as a gift is that they will often hang it up somewhere visible and they will keep it forever. When someone has a poem that I have written displayed in their home, it feels like I have left my mark, that there is a piece of myself, a bit of my love with that person. I find that meaningful gifts are cherished more than a lot of the fads or junk that we sometimes get sucked into buying.
Christmas is a great time to reflect on the things that we value most and are grateful for in our lives, what are some of the things that you are really grateful for this year?
For me the love and support of my friends is top on my list. With that in mind I wanted to write an inspirational Christmas poem that did not just focus on the day, but also addressed how we can carry out that loving feeling throughout the year. Enjoy!
A Christmas Poem
The time of year is energising
Friends and family are merry
The alcohol pours
Mulberry wine, port and sherry
The food is in abundance
There are smiles all around
Excitement is in the air
The magic is around
Regardless of religion
All can feel the buzz
And at this time of Christmas
We remember who and why we love
So let us all be happy
And carry it on throughout the year
We can achieve this if we just remember
And make our intentions clear
I’d love to hear about how you spent your Christmas, was it traditional or different? What is your favourite part of Christmas? And what does it mean to you? Please feel free to leave your comments below. If you like my writing and want to read more poetry, then leave a word of encouragement. I write a collection of poems about different things, I generally like to look at things from different perspectives so if there’s anything in particular you want me to write about, let me know!
Merry Christmas to everyone and a Happy New Year!
