Glenn Beck and Fox News

The news of Glenn Beck leaving Fox News is being shouted from the rooftops by the mainstream media as some sort of victory, which once again brings into question their supposed impartiality. First of all, Beck is leaving his show to pursue other avenues of interest, which will undoubtedly keep his fans happy. Plus, he will be doing other projects for Fox, just not a daily show. As anyone who follows Beck knows, he has been in danger of being over-extended for a while. A radio show, live show and a number of books are just some of his responsibilities, in addition to the TV show. By leaving the TV show he is freeing himself up for more involvement in other projects. Right now he is keeping fairly mum about some of his new ideas (moving to Texas is just one popular rumor), but his fans will probably love them and soon forget about the TV show.

Beck Confounds his Critics

No matter what Beck does he will be a lightning rod for his critics. To people that watch his show, this hatred has always been a bit of a mystery. Not that some people dislike him, but the vehemence in which they attack him and his fans. He is a pretty straightforward guy who is actually fairly accurate in his predictions and theories. From Ethanol (burning food for gas?), Van Jones (avowed Communist and 9-11 truther in the White house?), food and gold prices going up (supply and demand?) and Tunisia being the start of a conflagration in the middle east, he has pretty good instincts and informed opinions. He is also pretty forthright about his mistakes; he has acknowledged and apologized for comments about Obama and Shirley Sherrod.

No More Sheeple

The way he is attacked is an interesting study of the media and the so-called elites. Beck is politically incorrect and gives an in-depth evaluation of topics. Why does this approach attract such fire? Could it be that the elites and the media find keeping the masses addicted to sound-bite analysis beneficial for their interests? Could keeping people uninformed and disinterested be the purpose of the so-called elites? Maybe, Beck sure does rile them up by not only putting out in-depth information, but insisting that people investigate and educate themselves. Self- education and critical thinking sounds pretty healthy to me. Could this be the root of so much of the dislike for Glenn Beck? People no longer submissively following the lead of the media and elites? Does too much God and critical thinking make them uncomfortable? This seems to be a reasonable conclusion to many; so Glenn Beck keep doing what you’re doing and can’t wait to see what you have coming up.
