Is Ron Paul Too Radical?

I have heard over and over when Ron Paul's name comes up that he is too over the top to get elected, and I had to ask myself is Ron Paul too radical? So I went on a bit of a research trip and thought I would share my findings.

Is Ron Paul too radical?

Before we answer that question lets take a look at what we have for a government now. We have one that is trillions of dollars in debt, with programs out of control with corruption and waste, and no other candidate has any solution that is more than a band aid compared to Dr. Paul's stance on the economy. In October 2011, Dr. Paul introduced a federal budget proposal that would cut 1 trillion dollars from the federal budget in the first year, along with other measures that would balance our budget in three years. Is this radical? Yes it is, but do we not need some radical thinking right about now?

Everyone says he is not for real.

I personally have not seen a candidate come along that is more real than Dr. Paul. He has a set plan of what needs to be done and this scares the current government and business world alike. His ideas are radical, and they will call for drastic changes in the way we conduct business in this country. People like to complain and holler when things happen that effect their way of life, but it seems when the time comes to really change the things that are wrong support disappears. Change takes time, and change effects everyone, and it can be very painful, but without someone standing up and taking charge, this country is on a path of destruction for the average citizen.

Can he really make a difference?

To answer that one has to first ask, has any of the other candidates came up with any kind of plan that could even remotely come close to returning this country togreatness? All I have heard is the same old same old, and to me that is just not good enough. I want to know my children and my grandchildren have a chance to own a home and be secure in their futures, and the kind of government I have witnessed in the last twenty years has not been doing this.

The questions really all boil down to does this country have enough faith in any one person to make the kind of radical changes we need to make to survive in this world? When it comes time for action can we take action and make the changes?

Any comments?

I have a big question.....I like Ron Paul. Many people I know like Ron Paul. It sounds like you might like Ron Paul. Why is he not making a better showing in the polls? I get so discouraged with the same old-same old on both sides of the fence. If we are all really 'mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore' how does that status quo survive. This perplexes me. Do you have any insight?

The government and big business do not want someone like Mr. Paul to get into office and make the changes this country needs. Thus, they arrange for him to not be heard. The good side of this is people are wising up to this world government that has been pushed onto us and are starting to fight back. Stay tuned and get involved!

Shawn, Hmm. Time will tell. If he has the supporters perhaps he'll get enough votes to be "the" candidate? This is likely to be the most contentious election season ever -- by a factor of 10x or 100x. Will see! blessings, Cynthia blessings, Cynthia

Oh! I'm not really tracking. Just the here and there what I bump into. By the way, I just commented on another article where he looks 50 years younger than this one...

Shawn I agree with John I don't think he will get the chance but I remember when he ran in 2008 his main aim then was to get a message across and to educate people about sound economics and the importance of following the constitution. In this respect he's achieved a lot of success.

I just wish he was 10 years younger, but there is always his son...... :)

Perfect article and perfect timing Shawn. I love the comments here as well. I am not a Ron Paul expert nor would I call myself one of his supporters. What I have learned of him and his thought process I agree with. This country is headed to a very bad place if change doesn't occur. If 3 years really is all that is needed to make things right, I'd rather it start now. The alternative is in 3-5 years we'll either be in WW3 or a second Great Depression at the path we're on now. I hope I am wrong, but band-aids do not work. Unfortunately, I don't think enough Americans believe we are as bad off as we are, which means the majority will continue to turn their back on Ron Paul.

Shawn, I believe we as a nation have become lazy and are unwilling to give up the social welfare that has become the norm instead of the exception. Our complacency may very well be our downfall. I believe Ron Paul could turn things around but doubt he will get the chance.

Sometimes radical changes are necessary to get what needs to be done accomplished. Many Americans are drowning in debt and are unwilling to change their life styles. Perhaps, that is one reason why it is very difficult for Americans to "buy" into his plan. The media certainly doesn't want America to stop living their lives of false "excess." Corporations want us to keep buying and buying. I'm sure they are hoping that the mess that has to come will be in someone else's life time. I think the same goes for the government. Many preach to us that change needs to happen. At the rate things are changing, they may as well be singing "All is Well in America," even though it isn't. I think our recent recession is only a taste of what is yet to come. People were looking at Greece's and Italy's problems, our situation, from what I understand, is much worse. Time to wake up. Now, I must say, I haven't "bought" Ron's program either. I need to spend more time investigating it myself. What I've read and heard so far does make sense. It will be painful to make some of those changes, but probably not as painful as what will happen if we let things alone or do "patch" up jobs as we are now. Hopefully, I didn't ramble too much... I have my opinions, but I'm not sure I have enough background knowledge to put it into my own article.

And a follow up of note. Between reading the first article and now this I found another shouting the praises of this candidate. Now she is an independent trader and trading psychology coach, she also felt the man had radical ideas that to her made sense. That the very thing you are saying she in her own way agreed on. A radical internal shake up and policy needed to make America great again. This does bode as good news to us, that some are looking to a change-about one desperately needs to sort the woes of the world. I fret that a future might include a third world war required to sort these errors made. I certainly do not want my issue to partake in a war, rather me than them, but is this very crap we are now experiencing world-wide not what preceded the last war? Please get it right America who ever you choose may they be the right one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, the thing everybody forgets or just does not think about is if you make the radical changes we are talking three years and the country is back on it's feet. Sure makes sense to me.
