Obama's Chances At The Polls

It is most instructive to assert that the chances of US president, at the 2012 Presidential polls are a matter of International discourse. This obvious truth stems from the fact that the United States as the world’s leading country, commands a lot of interest even beyond the territorial confines of the US. Her diplomatic and economic contributions to world stability cannot be refuted. This explains the mounting interests generated all over the world regarding who occupies the white house and indeed the oval office. However, a lot of permutations are being drawn on the possibility of President Obama been returned to office by Americans. Ever since the incidence of 9/11, the candidate for the office must be able to convince Americans that the global fight againt terrorism is on course and that the much cherished freedom of the American people is guarded.

Above all these, the US economy and standard of living of Americans are topmost priority for any administration. This revolves round issues such as tax reforms, debt cut and spending, job creation, health insurance and foreign policy thrust. These issues are germane and paramount in the mind of the average American and play a huge role in shaping his choice of leadership in any giving election. Furthermore, an aspirant to any public office in the US must focus on meeting the demands of the electorate which I usually very visible during electioneering debate.

President Obama’s chances at the polls in November 2012 will clearly define the innate political character of the average American. The president’s policies on job creation, health reforms and tax cuts which are aimed at cushioning the effects of world economic recession on American citizens would serve as a template that would determine his re-election. President Obama must continue to galvanize new and better approach to solve emerging problems and form a synergy that would co-opt the republicans into buying into his reforms if he is to succeed in November 2012.

One major advantage going the way of president Obama is his winning strategies on the war on terror. The death of Osama bin laden, ouster and death of muammer Gadaffi , the continued diminishing influence and power of al Qaeda and Taliban and the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and Iraq are major areas of achievements that can earn him the confidence of the electorate in 2012. However, it must be seen that these achievements are sustained considering the highly literate population of the US.

Africa may not be of any significant support to Obama since there is little or nothing that stands out as a gain derived from his tenure as US president. The disappointments on the faces of most African who gave Obama the needed support en-route to the white house cannot be a plus to president Obama. No significant political or economic benefit has yet reached Africa (his birth place) unlike the Clinton administration where AGOA was enacted for the economic benefit of African nations. However, amendments could be made between now and election d-day so that his support base among Africans and African Americans can increase and enhance his chances of returning to the white house come January 2013.
