Osama Bin Laden's $50 million dollar reward

Now that Osama Bin Laden has been killed, what is going to happen to the $50 million dollar reward. Well, maybe nothing will happen with it. Jay Carney, a white House spokesman, said that no one took the proper steps to be eligible for the reward.

Carney went on to explain that as much as he was aware, no one knowledgeably stated, oh, Osama bin Laden is located with in Abbottabad at 5703 Green Ave. My feeling is that the requirement for any type of compensation would be to point that out... not to accidentally, by means of gathering intelligence, supply data that directly leads to the where abouts of Osama.

This statement leads me to believe that there is a person, or people, that have a legitimate claim to the reward. The White House is preparing a defense for not giving out the reward that it promised. When Osama was killed the CIA reported that they identified his where abouts by information obtained through an unidentified source. Seems to me that is exactly the type of information that this reward was supposed to encourage. To say that a reward is not going given out because the informant failed to say the proper words is simply ridiculous.

I suspect that the reward was never a reward at all, but mearly a ploy to pacify public pressure. When the money was offered up the government never intended to pay it. The initial bounty of $25 million was established in 2001 following the 9/11 attacks. Following those attacks the largest man hunt in history began. As time went on public pressure to find Osama Bin Laden grew. Not wanting to admit their total failure in this matter congress had to do something to appease the masses. So, they did what congress does best, they threw money at the problem. Uping the reward an additional $25 million dollars will show the American People that we mean business, right? Are we supposed to believe that congress thought there were people sitting around Pakistan going, "$25 million is ok, but I'm not ratting out Osama for anything less than $50 million". The only reason the reward was that large was to make an impression on the public.

I find it disappointing that congress would go back on their promise for something that was so important. I guess we can add this flat out lie to the list of all the other misdirection tactics used against the American population, Mission Accomplished, Weapons of Mass Destruction, oh yeah and the first time we heard Osama Bin Laden is dead. Congress needs to stop being so short sighted and start being upfront with the American people. It seems more and more that, thanks for all your help now f off is becoming the new system of government. Stop jumping for joy and congratulating yourselves on this slam dunk victory, it's time to do what you said you were going to do.
