Sarathkumar is familiar name in south for his achievements. He might be started his career as journalist but he is more popular as actor in Tamil Nadu and he acted 130 films in South which includes Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam in span of 25 years. He got three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards. He has huge fan following in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh for his acting skills and good physique. Sarathkumar was a delivery boy with Tamil daily Dinakaran at Bangalore. That is the root cause to become a fulltime journalist.

He made his acting debut in Telugu film in 1986 ‘Samajamlo Shree’. In 1988, he acted in Tamil film Kan Simittum Neram and this film directed by Kalaivanan Kannadasan. In fact, he produced this film with his partner Santhanam. Later he played as an antagonist in many films. Tamil audiences accepted him as best villain.

Although he became a popular with many films, it is Suriyan which brought him name and changed his life prospects in lead roles. Even this film was dubbed in Telugu and got positive reviews from film critics.

In the year 1996, Sarath Kumar entered into politics by joining the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). In 2002, the party made him a Rajya Sabha member. But later, he came out of AMK party due to differences with party and joined in AIADMK in November 2006. But very soon he also quit that party due to work load in cine industry.

In the year 2007, August 31st, he launched a new party called (AISMK) All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi. The main purpose of launching a new party was to instil a sense of ‘real citizenship’, where every citizen is inspired to act for the welfare of society. He is Member of Legislative Assembly of Tenkasi constituency now and he was elected as President of South Indian Film Artistes Association for third consecutive term.

His party is promising to be best in Tamil Nadu to support people who are poor and needy. He keeps visiting his constituency people and knowing their welfare every time to meet their needs. His wife Raadhika Sarathkuamar is supporting him in all aspects to take AISMK into people.

As an actor and politician, he got succeeded. He is endeavouring to make his party as best among people of Tamil Nadu. Even he is in politics, his love for acting is continuing in all South Indian languages.
