The World is In A Mess

It seems the world is in a mess. People are rioting, killing, legislating morality, and with that, some people are still apathetic. I cannot understand anyone having children and grandchildren being apathetic about the state of the world. With children or not, I guess, we should all care about what is happening in and around our world.

Glaciers are melting. That is not a good thing. ( Though if global warming will change the climate in Minnesota in the winter, I am all for that. ) Raising the world water table is nothing compared to the unrest in the Arab countries. That they think killing an ambassador and some soldiers are going to help them in their pursuit of respect, I humbly suggest they rethink their plan, That is not even the worst that is happening. There are people starving in many countries. Little children starving to death before they have lived. We seem able to put that out of our collective minds.

But the worst thing going on is the Me -ism of the American Public around the ages of 35-50. "I want my money in my pocket, thank you." I heard a nurse say. Milk of human kindness, that woman. What about the people who are sick or elderly? What about the roads and national parks that need to be fixed. What about a humane public who have so much, sharing with the people who don't. After all, "But for the Grace of God goes I..."

It seems that we have become short-sighted, selfish and inhumane in our pursuit of making us happy. What about Christian Charity? What about running the country? What about caring about someone else besides ourselves? It boggles my mind. Are we so far from the Great Depression and the Holocaust that we cannot remember any suffering but our own?

Legislating morality bothers me too. Who are others to tell us how to live? Why is their Christianity any better than our Judaism or any other religious belief's? Who do they think they are to force feed their bigoted laws down our throats? I do not want a world that legislates morality. In the conflict between too many laws and too few, which side should win out. I think the less stipulations on morality the better. Let people live their own lives. Turn our thoughts to better things. Like fixing Global Warming. Trying to feed a starving world. Our own world is suffering from homelessness and hunger. Isn't that more important than making laws on who can marry whom? Or any other such bigotry in Christian clothing?

I don't want my children saddled with the fall- out of someone else's baggage. I don't want to cripple their minds with garbage. There is enough real worries in this world to focus on. Why create more by legislating morality. Let separation of Church and State work. Let Government work. Let them work side by side, but not merging the emotional with the logical. It is very messy when the world becomes confused about what roles government and religion play in our lives. Look at the Arab countries. They let their religious fervor run their governments. Look how well that has turned out.

Street Talk

Nicely put! I am with you! What a mess! Political maneuvering is everywhere from the individual to big corporations and government. The reason for all the positioning comes down to one thing, MONEY! It's not what motivates me to in my world. In fact, I have found that helping people has it's own rewards that would never even come close to any monetary rewards! Great article. I didn't notice any website... Are you here just to write? Sorry if this ole cowboy is too nosy! Just my nature to be curious. Mac

Right on, man! It all comes down to money. Take that away and you'd literally have a free world. And then we'd all be rich.
