In the global political community, which is just another name for the human race; there are no accidents. There are only effects following causes. Where there is suffering, hatred, violence, wealth, prosperity, poverty etc there are causes of suffering, hatred, violence, wealth, prosperity, poverty etc.

It is not rocket science. These states; these effects, were caused, and since they were caused there must be causal agents; active bodies causing certain outcomes.

Some of these bodies might not ‘know’ they are causing the above mentioned states and are therefore beyond reproach. There is no purpose to be served by trying to imprison volcanoes, falling trees or rivers for causing suffering for example. However, where there are active, conscious, reasoning creatures in action. They are causing certain effects and have the capacity to identify what they are and what is causing them. They are not beyond reproach, because they can generally, consciously and reasonably change their actions to cause a different effect.

These active, conscious, reasoning creatures, of which the human is allegedly supreme, bear some if not all responsibility for those reactions or effects caused by their conscious, reasoned activities. There are relatively few who can truly claim to be without responsibility for their activities; usually those who have illnesses, injuries or conditions that affect their consciousness and reasoning processes. The rest of us; we politically active creatures, are responsible actors.

Even sleeping and dying are activities; therefore life is essentially an activity. It is something we do. Where there is activity there is life and where there is conscious, reasoning activity there is responsible life; and the responsibility is mostly related to its action and reaction; its cause and its effect.

This all might seem a bit ethereal or philosophical, however it is actually something a child knows. Before we as children know what we are doing, we know we are doing something. We are aware of acting and experiencing re-action in our environment. We know ‘cause and effect’ before we know it is called ‘cause and effect’. And we know we are involved in it.

If we as children know the ‘cause and effect’ process before we even know the name of the process, then there is no excuse for those of us who are political (all of us by Aristotle’s account) to claim ignorance that politics itself is ‘cause and effect’. Politics is after-all activity; action and reaction. It is our life. And where there are allegedly supreme Politics and Politicians there is always, always supreme responsibility.

It is the action of taking responsibility that seems to be lacking, and that is having devastating effects in the global political community, which is just another name for the human race; in which there are no accidents.
