Why does a seeming nobody have so much power over the GOP? Isn't this called malfeasance? Is it extortion? Why and how can anyone sign a pledge with an elected official, keep the signed pledge in a vault and then try to ruin their careers when the politicians are trying to do what is right for the country? It sounds like extortion to me. It also sounds like the people who signed those pledges are not the brightest bulbs on the tree at the very least and at the worst being bribed to work against the country at the worst.
Politicians have never been considered lily pure. But when a whole group of politicians who hold the future of the United States in their hands are being held hostage to a twenty year old bribe, it is time to consider if they are being effective. Ineffective politicians should be removed from office.
I do not understand why this has not been questioned more. No one should be able to hold anything over a politician in return for not ruining their career. That is corruption in the highest office. These people are not capable of making a good decision when their career is at stake.
I would like to ask President Obama why they are getting away with this. I would like to ask the GOP if they are not the slightest bit embarrassed by the spot they find themselves. Why has this not been dealt with in twenty years? Someone fell asleep at the light switch.
There should be some committee that has oversight of these situations. Maybe citizens should have oversight of how these politicians spend their power. And better yet how they throw it away on people like Grover Norquist. But most important, how could anyone vote for these people over and over. For twenty years.
But now we are at a juncture in time. President Obama should take hold of this situation and set it right. Show these people for what they are. Make them play the game right. Get rid of Norquist and his ilk. Get the GOP to the table. The GOP is in a weakened condition. They are being blamed for most of the current economic problems. The GOP has lost much of its credibility. They can lose the rest of their credibility if they keep this up. It will take plenty of time for the GOP to sort out their dysfunction. The clock is ticking.
