How good are you at creating good luck? Some people believe that they are just unlucky and look with envy on people who appear to enjoy lots of luck. It can know your self-esteem if you believe that you’re not lucky. However, research has shown that although some people appear to be less lucky than others, there are steps that can be taken to create good luck rather than leaving it to chance.
Creating good luck by expecting good luck: The people who are lucky tend to have a whole different perspective on how they lead their lives, and they expect to have good luck. Eg The fact that lucky people expect good luck becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Psychologist Richard Wiseman who spent ten years studying 400 volunteers found that 80% of them believed that their luck had improved when they adopted this change.
Creating good luck by seizing opportunities: It’s easy to assume that some people are lucky to find themselves in the right place at the right time. Although this may happen, it is far more than that. People who are ‘lucky’ are those who either created opportunities for themselves or are aware of opportunities as they appear and then have the courage to seize it.
Creating good luck by listening to your own intuition. People often talk about listening or not listening to their own gut instincts. People who are lucky work with their gut instincts and also act upon their hunches. Lucky people are likely to be less risk averse than those who are not so lucky.
Creating good luck by persevering in the face of failure. People who believe that they are naturally unlucky are more likely to give up once things start to go wrong. The ability to persevere in face of failure, means that you increase your chances of something turning into success. It allows you to open yourself up to further opportunities.
Creating good luck by turning bad luck into positive opportunities: Rather than focussing on things that have gone wrong, lucky people accept that however bad things are they could have been a lot worse and therefore look at what could be turned into a positive opportunity and act upon it.
If you want to be someone who increases the amount of luck that you receive, it is clear that you have to change your perspective and work at your self-esteem, be more laid-back and be open to the different opportunities which naturally present themselves, as well as expecting success to happen. By listening to your intuition and accepting that good luck will happen will help you increase a resilient attitude which will help transform bad luck or failure into success.
Great points BIS_Coach...I aways beleived luck was the way the cookies crumble. Thanks.
Think we need to be careful about this luck business. If we are lucky or unlucky, it is a thing outwith our control. If we can influence luck then it is not luck, but rather I suggest; enhancement of outcome by enhancement of input. That's a strategy of activity. Luck is an external and unkown variable.
But we possibly could :-) thank you for your measured response. Look forward to reading more of your material. Regards and Respect, David
