You can be feeling good and up one minute, then the next moment you are down and under. For most of us it is hard to imagine that these feelings are real or normal. But there are many new moms that are plagued by these. We can help you to cope with baby blues.
The feelings that you may experience are exhaustion, sleeplessness, weeping, you feel trapped and anxious, you are irritated, nervous and worried about everything. Your appetite changes, you want to eat more or don’t have an appetite at all, and you question yourself and your ability to be a mother.
You should be celebrating like mad as your baby has just been born. But the sight of anything may reduce you to tears. You are constantly exhausted, you are constantly uncomfortable and you are overwhelmed by the enormous amount of responsibilities you seem to have now. It is all very overwhelming; you feel this dark empty hole inside you. You need to know how to cope with baby blues.
If you want to believe it or not this is all normal. It is all natural and totally understandable. It is one of the awful side effects of birth. About eighty percent of women experience the affects of baby blues. The good news is that these horrible feelings usually go away when you return home with your baby. It usually lasts only for about ten days.
Just think about it for a second, and then you will realize that it is not surprising at all for new moms to have to cope with baby blues, especially first time moms feel lost and scared. During pregnancy and birth your body has been pushed to its ultimate limit. You have been dealing with a lot both physically and mentally, and now you have this whole new life that you have to look after and help grow. All this is huge, both mentally and physically.
Why do we get the baby blues? Why do we have to cope with baby blues? Well you have raging fluctuating hormones, your body is tired, sore and uncomfortable. You leak from many places, and your once beautiful tummy is no longer your baby’s home, but just some flabby remains. You cannot fit into any of your normal clothes just yet, you may have to make peace with a birth that might not have gone the way you wanted or you may be separated by your baby for some or another reason. You may not feel that you have established a bond with your baby yet and you feel guilty. You have all these friends and family fussing over you, too eager to help which adds strain on you. You are tired but cannot get more than a few hours of sleep at a time.
The best thing you can do is to get some help to cope with baby blues.
