Omega Goodness for Your Baby

You get 3 kinds of Omega fatty acids, the Omega 3, omega 6 and omega 9. These are great brain foods that give you and your baby a mineral boost during pregnancy.

Omega 9 is not generally classified as an essential fatty acid, as this is not essential in the diet as it can be created by your body. It is created in the case where the body does not have enough Omega 3 and Omega 6 to make up for the lack of Omega in the body. This is not something we will be talking about today, as it is not really important for you and your baby while you are pregnant.

Omega 6 is a very important mineral you need to have enough of. The body does not make Omega 6 by itself, it has to be taken through food or supplements. This is crucial for brain development and function, and for normal growth and development of the fetus. It also plays a big role in immunity, blood clotting and some other vital functions of the body. This also has the advantages to you for skin and hair growth, bone health, healthy metabolism and to maintain a healthy reproductive system. Omega 6 has found to promote weight gain in infants.

Without the proper amount of Omega 3 your infants eye health may suffer. These are also critical to the production and the functioning of your infants cells, muscles, nerves systems, organs and long term heart health. Omega 3 should be taken at the same amounts as Omega 6.

The Omega 3 and Omega 6 is important throughout pregnancy, the third trimester is the most important, as this is when the most significant brain growth occurs. These are both transferred to the baby via the placenta from the mother, therefore the mother should have sufficient intake of these for herself and the baby.

Babies that are born prematurely run the risk of not having enough Omega 3 and Omega 6 during the last crucial weeks of pregnancy. This can cause visual impairment, neurological deficits, learning disabilities, social and behavioral problems and a lower IQ. Babies with sufficient supply of these nutrients show improved growth and development in all areas.

In conclusion, it is therefore beneficial to you and your unborn baby to supplement with Omega 3 and Omega 6 while pregnant and while breastfeeding. This is getting a lot of support from all over the world and the World Health Organization. Your child will be better mentally developed, and most likely will do better in life.

Every single day holds the promise of a miracle.
