Are you having scary pregnancy dreams? If you are then you are not alone at all.
Being pregnant does bring a whole lot of new things into your life. There are the most dreaded unwanted morning sickness, to the very amazing sensation, feeling and realization of a baby growing and kicking inside of you. Some of these new things that come with pregnancy are widely spoken about, but there are a few that does not get as much attention as the others do.
One of these little familiar changes is your dreams. As with many pregnant women, I also experienced a lot more vivid and intense scary pregnancy dreams. A lot more dreaming takes place than before. This is some good news as your good dreams become even better, more pleasant. But the other side of it is that the big bad scary pregnancy dreams also get worse.
I was going through some huge life changes, and on top of that I was anxious about a little more than a few things. The spikes in my hormone levels also played a huge part in my dreams.
I had dreams of being a bad mother, and also about a lot of stuff going wrong with the pregnancy and the birth. These were my subconscious fears playing havoc with my mind. My fears manifested in my dreams. There are certain hormones that were raging through me that caused my scary pregnancy dreams to become more vivid, with bright colors and even with high definition.
I was worried at the time as to how my dreams can affect my baby, but after some research I found out that fortunately my scary pregnancy dreams had no affect on my growing baby. The bad thing is it did disrupt my sleeping and brought me some unnecessary anxiety. I often had a hard time falling back to sleep.
I began keeping a book and pen next to my bed. Every time I was woken by a nasty scary pregnancy dream, I jotted it down and I left it to deal with it the next morning. I then tried to decipher why I would dream what I did. Trying to pinpoint what exactly my subconscious fear is behind my strange dream. This helped me to find a better way to deal with my subconscious fears. My fears came to the forefront of my mind and I could deal with it and get some reassurance.
Let’s take one example of a scary pregnancy dream I had about being a bad mother, doing something wrong as a mother. My fear was that I did not know anything about raising a child. I was scared that I would do many things wrong. I was afraid I would fail as a mother and I would fail my unborn son.
What I did was do a lot of reading and research, and I spoke to a lot of really good parents I know. I also went to some antenatal classes with my husband and we read baby books till it came out of our ears. All this lessen my anxiety and fears and the bad scary pregnancy dreams went away for good. I was proactive about what we did.
Figure your bad scary pregnancy dreams out and get a hold of your anxieties and fears. You will sleep that much better and you will be assured to enjoy your journey with your growing little treasure.
Every single day holds the promise of a miracle.
