Using Your Basal Body Temperature To Increase Your Fertility

When trying to get pregnant, there are signs provided to you by your body that can help you. For example, your basal body temperature helps you determine when you ovulate. This is important if you are trying to get pregnant. Changes to this temperature during your menstrual cycle should be recorded, as it is the most accurate indicator that ovulation is about to occur. If you combine this with other methods such as checking your cervical mucus, you can increase your fertility in hopes of becoming pregnant in the near future.

First, it’s important to understand what your basal body temperature is. It is the term given to your temperature when your body is completely at rest. A special thermometer is required to test your BBT. This is because the changes in your temperature are so small that you need a very accurate thermometer that will go to the hundredths when giving you the measurement. Your basal body temperature is at its lowest first thing in the morning, which is when you should be recording the number each day. This should be done before showering, eating, using the restroom, or even getting out of bed.

Recording the temperature at the same time each morning is the best way to increase your fertility. If you are off by just a few minutes, or doing anything before taking your BBT one morning, you run the risk of damaging the information you have collected this far. It is impossible being 100% accurate when predicting ovulation each month, but the basal body temperature is as close to perfect as you can get. Therefore, you do want to be as precise as possible.

As you chart your temperature each morning, you will start to see a slight change in the measurements. Typically, the increase is from 0.2 to 0.6 degrees Fahrenheit. The rise indicates that ovulation has occurred. At that point, it’s usually too late to try and conceive that month. However, after a couple months of recording your BBT, you will start to see a trend on your charts. You will then be ready to predict your ovulation and have sexual intercourse at the right time.

There are other methods you can combine with tracking your basal body temperature that will help you further increase your fertility. Checking your cervical mucus is one such technique. This involves recording the changes in color and consistency of your mucus throughout your cycle. This method can be added to your morning routine of taking your temperature. Using more than one technique will only increase the chances of you getting pregnant.

As you can see, your basal body temperature can help you increase your fertility, if you understand and know how to accurately track it. Once you have 2 to 3 months of records on hand, you can use your BBT to predict when you should be trying to conceive. Combine this method with others in order for it to be more effective. Using these natural techniques for conception saves you time and money over the more medical interventions.
