Scheduling is key to product fulfillment:

Each company has a specific set of resources which can be used to fulfill a specific set of commitments. The better you manage your resources, the more commitments you can successfully take on.

Uttana has a course designed to use Lean based scheduling principles to help level production and satisfy the demand levels of your current and prospective customers.

Using these scheduling principles, especially in an existing Lean environment, can help you to remain competitive in an ever changing market place.

The importance of Research and Development:

If a business, any business, is to survive, it must grow, adapt and evolve with the market that it serves. Life is about change and if your business model fails to embrace this fact, you will soon slip out of your market niche, to be replaced by a more responsive and innovative organization.

That is why for most companies, research and development is an important element of the overall business growth plan.

Most people when they hear that term envision bespectacled scientists in stuffy labs in the basement coming up with the next product breakthrough for their employers. But what if you are not in the product creation business? What if what you do is to assemble, fabricate, transport or sell something that someone else has developed? Does that leave you out of the equation?

No. Research and Development can encompass more than new additives to laundry soap or the next big entertainment system. Making changes to your processes can fall under R&D as well. In either case you go through the same stages:

Concept: The initial idea for a new or improved product or processes

Design: Detailed plans for making the concept a reality

Development and Testing: A twin process where the designs are developed into something that can be tested and evaluated. Based on the results of the tests, you either go back to design, or on to

Implementation: Taking the ideas developed in your R&D facilities and putting them into place in day to day operations.

Introduction to 3P:

For many years, R&D followed pretty much the same pattern as described above, several discrete steps for roll out. But in the 1980's the idea of the 3P Method: Production Preparation Process was introduced. This is a structured method for getting from concept to shop floor quickly, efficiently, and with a minimum of wasted effort.

Uttana has several video courses on Introduction to 3P which can help you find out more about the 3P process or in scheduling principles :

Introduction to 3P: This course outlines the fundamental principles behind 3P, with case studies and real world examples of how 3P was used to make R&D more effective.

Comparing 3P to Other Methods: Learning is best done in an understandable context. This course helps you to see the advantages of 3P over other traditional R&D methodologies.

16 Catch Phrases of 3P: This course goes into the underlying vocabulary of the 3P method. Each represents a core element of the 3P process. Understanding the 'phrases' will help when trying to apply 3P to real world R&D.

The Phases of 3P: 3P is a process with a specific life cycle. This course helps you to manage the project in whichever phase you find it.
