Many people stop at Starbucks during their day. They bring their laptop computer, order a cup of coffee and perhaps a scone, and then sit down at one of the WiFi-accessible tables in the establishment. Briefly stepping out of the office during the workday can be helpful in terms of increasing your porductivity and getting your creative juices flowing. Here are some tips to make your visit to the popular coffee shop a good one.
First, do be sure to order something. Do not come in with a laptop computer, sit down at a table, and expect to be allowed to stay. You will likely be asked to leave. You do not have to spend much money during your visit. Starbucks understands that you are trying to save money whenever possible. Consider ordering a cup of coffee and a pastry. These two items will not cost very much. Since you are a paying customer, employees will then leave you alone, allowing you to do what you came in to do. Placing an order is not the only thing to remember when you visit Starbucks, however.
Another tip is to avoid lengthy calls on your cell phone. Other customers deserve a pleasant visit. They do not want to listen to your conversation. If you must make a call, keep it brief. Save longer calls for when you are at home. In addition to placing an order and being considerate with your phone usage, there is one more thing to keep in mind when you visit Starbucks: be sure to clean up your mess.
Do not leave coffee cups, empty sugar packets, empty creamer containers, or used napkins at your table. Both employees and other customers will be grateful if you pick up your trash and throw it away. There is one more way to be welcomed back at Starbucks. When you have finished your coffee and pastry, it is time to go.
Many people want to be productive during the day. They want to be able to post one more tweet or publish one more article, for example. Do your online work while enjoying your food. That way, you will get your work done, you will be able to enjoy some tasty refreshments, and you will avoid tying up a table where more paying customers could sit.
Finally, do keep track of the time. When people go somewhere else to take a break from their work, it is very easy to get involved in the atmosphere of the new environment and lose track of time. The place you visit may have a television that is currently tuned to a sitcom you like, for example. If you get involved in your show, however, you will be late returning to work. You will then get in trouble with the boss. Periodically check your watch as you eat, and leave early enough to get back to work in plenty of time. By keeping these tips in mind, you can stay on your boss's good side and save your sanity. Enjoy your Starbucks visit, and have a productive day.
