I never met Steve Jobs, I wish I had the chance to talk to this genius and to get a glance of his personality. I would have liked to see how his mind worked and how the world looked through his eyes.
We all know the story of how Steve Jobs created Apple Computer in the early 1980’s with his buddy Steve Wozniak (Woz) and how he was expelled in 1985 because of his controversial personality.
After that Apple went through a difficult time (more than a decade), while Jobs continued his entrepreneurial life, sometimes successfully (like the hit he had with Pixar), sometimes not so much (his company “Next” wasn’t very successful).
Then, in 1997, he returned to his beloved creation and put things in place again. Apple developed a huge amount of innovative gadgets becoming one of the greatest technology companies in the history, over some important names like Microsoft, Sony, Dell and others.
Everyone that knew him or had the opportunity to talk to him was aware of his difficult personality, his “alteration of reality”, his mood changes, his obsession with details and his rude manners with anyone that wasn’t a “major league player”.
So what made him so special? Why was everybody so charmed when they talked to him? How could he convince anyone that he was always right and that his way of seeing things was not only the correct way, but the only one?
Jobs was a visionary. He was always thinking ahead of everyone and he infused a special passion to anything he made and any project that he was part of. He wanted to give people the nicest, coolest and most beautiful products. And for that he had to be involved in the whole process and he had to be cautious with the smallest detail. He was a genius.
However, life had decided that the time of Jobs among us humans wasn’t going to be long. When he was 30 years old, Jobs used to tell his friends and colleagues that his life was going to be short and that he had a lot of things to do. And he did.
There are a lot of stories, a lot of anecdotes and pictures that reveal the life of Steve Jobs. The question now is: What is going to happen with Apple? Will the company be able to survive without its founder, CEO and most important person? Apple has already been without Jobs and the outcome wasn’t very good.
The rumour is that Jobs spent some time with Tim Cook, telling him about the future of Apple. Let’s hope that the new CEO had a chance to absorb as much as he could of Steve Jobs personality. If not, we might be seeing the doom of one of the greatest companies in history.
May Steve Jobs Rest in Peace. (1955-2011)
