Glee Star Dead

I know that many of you probably do not care about the TV show Glee but I sure do. I don’t watch much TV but that is a show I love watching. I love how upbeat it is and sometimes, in my opinion, they would perform an artist’s song better than the artist could.

A death in the show

So when I heard about Cory Monteith’s death I was shocked. I found out about his death through Facebook and when I saw the post I thought it was a joke so I Googled it. I was sadly surprised that it was true. I knew that Monteith had gone to drug rehab a few months prior to his death and I figured he had relapsed. On Tuesday I found out that I was right. The toxicology report stated that he had a mixture of heroin and alcohol in his system.

There have been times that when I heard of a death of a famous person that I liked I would feel a little sad but for some reason this one has really made me stop a few times and say, "Wow, I'm really sad he is gone." Cory Monteith was one of the best characters on the show. He played Finn Hudson, the main male character, whom everyone adored because he played for the football team and was the lead male singer of the glee club. His character was very nice and accepting of pretty much everyone. Monteith seemed to be the same way. I would read or watch him in interviews and he seemed like a good, down to earth guy.

His own demons

Apparently he had his own demons that he struggled with. I found out that at age 13 he started drinking and doing drugs and by 19 he went to rehab. He discovered acting and he said that was what saved him. To me, Monteith didn’t seem like the type of person to abuse drugs but I guess anyone can fall into that. Maybe to some people life is too hard for them to face and they turn to drugs and alcohol to cope with their problems.

Different on the inside

Sometimes you think that the people who have it altogether are actually falling apart on the inside. Glee has actually had a few episodes that show that and Monteith was one of the characters that had a role like that at times. You never know what another person is going through and what demons they are struggling or have struggled with. Cory Monteith is one of many people that had so much potential but died before they were supposed to. I guess you just never know when your time will come and you have to act like everyday could be your last.
