Dear People,
I aimed to write everyone this letter today but was afraid to risk it. I am almost crazy to think of what you all will say at mere thought of truth vs. blame. But here I sit tryping away with hopes that you will not judge me. I am hurt so bad to think of troubling any of you with pointing out reality, and it is that dynamic that makes this harder on me. Everybody complains about lack of peace here on earth; yet they stand and do nothing. In stead you all point the finger at others. I must say that you have the right to avoid acknowleding your individual role is this worldly chaos, just as you have the right to continuously contribute to it. I know we like to hate and kill and you continue to humor with the thrills in which it gives those receiving victims and their family members. Lets not forget our government. Oooooops I didn't mean to bring that up. But I digress!!!
I always hear older people talking about "taking a stand" and I'm wondering if they understand how hard that task is on the people. I mean so what Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Jesus Christ, Rosa Parks, Gabriel Prosser, Denmark Vesey, Nat Turner, Frederick Douglass, Highland Garnet, David Walker, James Forten, Sarah Parker Remond, Charles Lenox Remond, Sojourner Truth, William Whipper, Harriet Tubman, David Ruggles, William C. Nell, Robert Purvis, and Martin R. Delany, Theodore D. Weld, Lewis Tappan and Arthur Tappan, William Lloyd Garrison, Levi Coffin, Charles G. Finney, Wendell Phillips, Lucretia Mott, James Birney, and many more gave their life or suffered harsh consequences in pursuit of change and peace. We are not them!
Just because they see world peace as an ideal of freedom, peace, and happiness among and within all nations and/or peoples, doesn't mean you have to. This thing called peace is the professed ambition of many past and present leaders. World peace has been depicted as a consequence of local self-determined behaviors which inhibit the institutionalization of power and ensuring violence. It does not comfort those who have lost their loved ones in floods caused by senseless deforestation in a neighboring country.
These old school people believe peace can only last where human rights are respected, where the people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free. Then here comes our screwed up govenment and historic people talking about how the responsibility does not only lie with the leaders of our countries or with those who have been appointed or elected to do a particular job. These crazy people seriously think it lies with each of us individually. Can you believe they are trying to get me to by into the hypothesis that peace starts within each one of us. When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us. Yeah Right!!!
Well I just wanted the rest of the people to know that I understand why you won't take a stance and fight the so called "Good Fight" after all isn't that what our President and the Obama Administration is for........they need to fix the problems and give us world peace.
:-) I must explore more of your work... Do I find shades of "A Modest Proposal" here?
I don't understand you--Governments don't change people--they have to change themselves--our government is only supposed to keep the corruption, violence and influence-peddling to a dull roar. What we make of ourselves is our own choice. If we choose to ignore the problems in our communities, our schools, and our businesses, then it would in fact be easier to achieve peace of mind. Fighting for good is not a yoga exercise--it is what separates us from the villains. Surely you're not advocating that we all join the bad guys?

Hi Christopher, my letter was addressing the people whom feel it is the Governments responsibility to change individual; global situations for us. But I fully agree with your response. Also, I accidently clicked remove while trying to click reply. Please repost your comment to this article and thank you for the response.
