What\'s Up With Obamacare?

So now Obama gives business a one year delay from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act’s Employer Mandate, but families and you the individual, do not get such consideration? How can that be? Employees whose employers do not furnish health insurance will be required to buy their own private insurance in October. And if your employer decides to drop your health care insurance opting to pay the $2,000 penalty instead (which is way cheaper), then you – yes you, will have to buy your own insurance!

Unexpectedly, and suddenly on July 5th, just one day after America celebrated its Independence, the Obama administration released a 606 page FINAL regulation on the most important provisions of the health-care law. The telling word, “Delay” was written into the document 45 times and confirms the fact that there are serious flaws in the law.

So it has become quite apparent to the naked eye (you know the eye that has been skeptical all along?) that the Health Care Law commonly referred to as ObamaCare is in some deep stinky poo. Massive and complicated beyond comprehension, Pragmatists have known all along that the Employer Mandate would work as an effective income redistribution plan, mathematically and economically impossible, a job killer, in many cases an industry killer, and will surely add trillions to the current sixteen plus trillion dollar national debt.

But not until now have these negatives to the economy been anything but a bothersome-fly-in-the-ointment to the Obama administration. Suddenly, wishful thinking, speech making with all the smooth political promises, the voodoo calculations that can’t make it work, with mid-term elections coming up next year, and those politicians whose party has hailed the law as the one Saving Grace, and the greatest thing since white bread, are now crying out to their leader for help only he can give.

To those who may need a refresher, the “Employer Mandate” is a major requirement of the law. It mandates that businesses with at least 50 full-time employees must provide insurance for their workers beginning in October 2013. As of early 2012, the Obama administration had already issued over 1,200 waivers – and the majority of these waivers went to labor unions who had cried foul. After the ensuing backlash, HHS decided to stop taking applications but planned to still grant or deny waivers through the end of 2013.

And not only is the Administration hurrying up to postpone implementation of the Employer Mandate until 2015 (did I mention, 2015 is after the 2014 mid-term elections have taken place?), it has also placed on hold the requirement that Individuals must verify their low income status in order to qualify for tax subsidies! That’s right – the government is going to scale back its oversight of an applicants stated income – the income used to qualify for the tax subsidies. Do you think there may be some quite low income estimates submitted? Just another avenue paved with gold to encourage fraud.

Let me say that I would like to see all people of the world to have health care. I would love to see every US citizen- rich or poor –to have access to high quality care. It is well-known that there are untold problems with the health care insurance industry in this country; there are people with existing conditions, people with incomes that can barely house and feed their families, much less pay for costly health insurance. But the rich can pay their own premiums, and many others have insurance through their employers. But there is a segment of the population who needs help – people who truly need help.

Why not concentrate on helping those specific folks who need help? Work on the insurance companies - allow for competition across state lines and require that a higher percentage of the premiums paid by the consumer is always paid back into true health care benefits to the consumer, and not funneled to contrived expenses, executive bonuses, and high profits for the insurance companies. There are without doubt many avenues that could be explored without ripping apart the people of this nation by tearing its health care system to shreds

Our country needs to get real, politicians need to get their heads out of the clouds, learn to think rationally not emotionally, do away with the comedy drama, and get the politics out of the day to day running of the nation’s business. If you, Mr. Politician, want to help your constituents – the people of this great country, then do it by doing the right thing – which will ultimately be something quite less than what you want - considering all your prejudices, selfish wants, and perceived needs.

Oh by the way I never had health care in my life. I was a single mom and when I would get ahead something would go wrong like expensive car repair for instance. I would have anxiety attacks worried what I would do i a serious illness would strike. I was forced to not care and just say the hell with it, If I can fix this I would just move onto things that I could fix. But there are somethings in life that it takes a village, a city, a county, a state to all work together. When exactly did the phrase United We Stand Divided WE FALL lose its meaning Gosh it just faded away like are freedom is.

Hey Joan - just commented on your first post below - loved it! There are definitely times when one has to say, "To hell with it", to cancel out the stress! In fact, if you can't do anything about it, I guess the best thing to do is "to hell with it"! I do believe that you have just re-inspired me!!! (love the dog)

i watched this documentary call Zietgeist and It blew me away. There is so much money in the USA not to mention the world. in my area most companies have cut everyone hours to part time. I have been watching every documentary I can. You can see there telling the truth the facts don't lie. I just don't know why we think we are so powerless and fearful. As long as we think like that and don't peacefully stand up for our Constitution, We will place our hands on each side of our face and say .. .Why did we let them get away with that . . . Do we subconsciously think we'er insignificant. We would let them come into our homes and take our belongs that we worked hard for. Look at history . They'er just learning how to get better at it. any way didn't mean to go on a tangent. I loved reading your article. See it got me all stirred . that's good writing.

The only thing the government ever did well was the postal service. Everything else they touch goes to hell.

I did not know that the postal service gets no funds from the Fed. In fact they are obligated to turn billions of dollars over to the Fed every year! Just saw that on TV, and was shocked to find out! The PO supports itself!

You are so wise, and our thinking is in close alignment. I get so annoyed at the rhetoric and name calling that goes on in Washington, in Facebook and other social media. I learned a long time ago, that people who have solid, set opinions and will not even consider another person's point of view is a low intellect, closed minded fool. Ok - that describes Washington. I think most Americans are thoughtful, thinking people who agree, something needs to be done but the plan in the works for now, is a nightmare. Another issue is the media, it has done the same thing as the politicians and serves to polarize the country - making any real solution almost an impossibility. You can't draw a line in the sand and expect others to just roll over and say whatever. You should run for Congress. I would vote for you because you actually look about, consider, and think - before you speak. I am honored to have you in my group!

Wow Kali! What a fantastic endorsement - to run for Congress! Sugar, I would surely make some people very-very anger and be run out of town if I showed my true self! And, oh how I wish that I always thought before I spoke! Putting the words to paper is so much safer than speaking......I get to review, revise, review and revise again before sending for publication! That is my saving grace! Another word(s) for WISE, is "common sense" - this is what is so lacking.....where is the common sense these days?

Thank you for the comment RC. Doing the right thing for politicians would be almost a new concept it seems! As far as packing in information, no matter how much one "packs", there will never be room enough or time enough to tell the whole story. And although the subject is a great concept, the devil is in the details! Thanks again...
