3 Quit Smoking Tips That Can Change Your Life For Good

Do you really want to stop smoking? I am sure you wouldn’t be reading this article any further if you did not want to stop smoking so I will assume you said yes, but some people find it extremely hard to quit smoking once and for all. Now I will not go into the nitty gritties of how smoking becomes a habit that is ingrained into your subconscious mind but i will give you an example that helps illustrate why it can be sometimes tough to quit smoking.

I once read something that made me laugh in a magazine. It read that “quitting smoking is not tough, I have quit 5 times and there is nothing to it”. This example illustrates what usually happens with a lot of people, not all people though, as some try to quit and find that they cannot keep it up for more than 24 hours. We will deal with those types later in the article. Back to the person that has quit 5 times and this is what often happens. You think you have quit and then you smoke one cigarettes with your friends just for old time’s sake and that’s it.

In your mind it was just a one-time thing that is not really anything to worry about, but it is like that chocolate cake you allow yourself when you are dieting. Before you know it you are “treating” yourself the whole time and you are back to smoking a cigarette day-in day-out.

Understand, that quitting smoking is certainly harder than going back to it. You will find your mind thinking of all kinds of rationalizations or all kinds of reasons why you should just smoke once and be done with it but this is your mind playing tricks on you and that old habit creeping back in again. One tip I can give you is to simply get you partner to ban you from buying cigarettes or carrying any cigarettes around with you. How can this help you to finally stop smoking?

Well first of all, if you never buy your own pack of cigarettes you will find that in order for you to smoke you will have to find someone to offer you a cigarette and while you may get a smoking buddy once or twice, once everyone sees you as someone only out for freebies they will stop giving you any. Once you don’t have someone offering you cigarettes the whole time it is much easier.

Also if you never carry any cigarettes around with you, it may make it much more of a hassle to smoke because you would have to go to the store to buy one.

Still for some, these tips may not be enough and you may need something more drastic to rescue you.
