What is the best way? Quit smoking products are all the rage and all over the stores these days. Doctors recommend different things depending on the doctor, friends recommend different things depending on their own experiences, it seems that for every product out there, there are hundreds if not thousands of people endorsing them as the best way. Quit smoking guides are everywhere and this article will look at some of the different ways one can use to quit.
I have seen many people using inhalers, patches, chewing gum, fake cigarettes, electronic cigarettes and all sorts of other gadgets to quit smoking. Personally, I don't like them and think that they don't do the job required of them. Yes, some people quit successfully while using them, but I think that they would have quit anyway and quit in spiet of the Nicotine Replacement gadgets they used, not because of them. In addition, many of the people I've seen who quit this way ended up smoking again, and even more just didn't last longer than a week. This method of quitting can also be very expensive.
The "Old School" method is to simply go cold-turkey, cut cigarettes out completely. I think this has its merits because it gets the nicotine out of your system as quickly as possible and does not prolong the process like nicotine replacement does. The downside is that it can be very difficult and many people end up so scared of suddenly cutting out their "crutch" that they do not even attempt to quit, hence the popularity of inhalers, patches and so forth.
A method with increasing popularity is hypnotism and I like some aspects of this method because it focuses on the psychology of nicotine addiction and uses relaxation techniques as well as methods to recondition our brains and how we think about smoking. I'm not convinced that hypnotism is the best way to quit smoking, but if it works for some people then that is great.
As I mentioned above, I like the psychological aspects of quit smoking techniques. For me, changing ones thinking is the best way. Quit smoking techniques often concentrate only on the chemical aspect of the addiction, the body's craving for nicotine itself (which only lasts a few days) and ignore the psychological aspect. I read some information which made me realize that my addiction was controlled by two monsters. The small one, nicotine addiction, and the big one, my mind. Once I learned how to reprogram my mind and understand smoking more, quitting was very easy.
In conclusion then, the best way quit smoking is to focus on the psychological side. Don't worry about the physical reliance because that is nothing, just a mere few days of mild discomfort (trust me on this).
Next time you smoke a cigarette, ask yourself why you are doing it, why that first one you ever smoked was disgusting and why this one is different, is it different, or does it just seem different?
Very well done article. Its funny to see this as I recently wrote an article on the same subject. Haven't published it yet. I think a lot of people will benefit from your article.
