How Can Nicotine Gum Help You Quit Smoking ? ( Tips Revealed)

There are many popular ways available to quit smoking now. One of the popular quit method with smokers is chewing nicotine gum which is also known as one of the nicotine replacement therapy product. This method is very popular as the method approved (in many countries) by health bodies such as WHO (World Health Organisation) and supported by local government agencies. In this article we will look at nicotine gum as a possible solution to quit smoking. But first let's take a look at ...

What is Nicotine Replacement Therapy ?

Nicotine replacement therapy tackles the physical symptoms and cravings due to a smoker's addiction to nicotine. It provides a smoker with supply of nicotine without other harmful substances such as tar in cigarettes and helps control withdrawal symptoms and cravings, making smoking cessation less stressful to the smoker.

How Can Nicotine Gum Help You Quit Smoking ?

Nicotine gum and other nicotine replacement therapy products increases the chances of smoking cessation by controlling the withdrawal symptoms of nicotine addiction. The smoker on nicotine gum have a nicotine reducing plan whereby he chew less and less of the gums each day until he stops for good. Ultimately the smoker will be able to wean themselves off their dependence on nicotine altogether. Somehow for this method to work, the person must psychologically ready to quit for good. Even so, studies have indicated that by taking the gum only increases quit rates to about 10-15% (after 6 months), in users.

The main criticism of nicotine gum and other nicotine replacement therapy products are that there exists the possibility that the smoker may become chronically addicted on these products as alternative to smoking cigarettes. Also there remain the psychological addiction to smoking which are not resolved by these products. So, while chewing nicotine gum is a step forward to start quitting, its' likely not enough without a psychological program that addressed the psychological influence of nicotine and smoking before the habit goes away for good.

Conclusion

It cannot be denied that nicotine gum and other nicotine replacement therapy is a far better choice compared to continue inhaling the 7,000 chemicals present in tobacco smoke, of which at least 60 are medically known cancer causing agents. Hopefully after knowing that there are so many harmful chemicals and toxic agents in tobacco smoke, you will be ready to quit smoking for good.

Good points. I think that those that wish to quit smoking need to also psych themselves up against smoking in general. Instead of longing for it, which many do, you MUST tell yourself that you hate smoking and continually think of it as a dirty, expensive, health-robbing habit that it is. Think about the corporate executives that are getting filthy rich from you, making yourself poor and diseased. Think about the government doing the same, and not imposing any real laws against adding addictives to the tobacco, which the industry does, just to keep smokers enslaved to it! Smokers MUST believe that they hate it.
