When looking for good quitting smoking programs, do you know exactly what it is you are looking for? In this article I will discuss key factors that you need to consider when researching a good quit smoking program. It is all too easy to fall for the latest hype and fashionable programs, so at the end of the article I will also provide information on where to find further reviews.
Things To Consider
When you are going to quit smoking, there are a lot of things that won't even have crossed your mind, because you will most likely be too busy psyching yourself up for the big day, writing lists of the reasons that you want to quit, reminding yourself of the health, financial, and social advantages of quitting, and delaying the date a little bit more until you feel more ready.
A good quitting smoking guide should not only help you through the early stages of quitting, but fully prepare you in the build-up, so that by the time the quit date arrives, you are already becoming a non-smoker in your mind.
I have read many generic websites in my time, with advice such as "Think of the health benefits, think of the finances" and so on, but to me this is nothing new. If those thoughts were enough to help somebody quit, there wouldn't be any smokers in the world, except for those teenagers in the experimental stage. A good guide to stopping smoking will go a lot further into the psychological connection between smoking and smoker, dealing with both the physical AND mental sides of nicotine addiction.
Does the program tell you about the full way in which nicotine affects your body, or does it just tell you that you can quit within the hour? Does the program help you to understand why you are still smoking in the first place, or does it just show you a picture of a black lung? These are questions that should really help you in your decision.
I think price is another important factor. For most of us, quitting smoking will save us money, therefore there can't really be too much fuss made about the price of quitting, but it can add up if you use the wrong method unsuccessfully, or end up relying on a replacement, such as nicotine gum. My first attempt to quit smoking left me spending MORE money on the method to quit than I was spending on cigarettes, it didn't bother me apart from the fact I didn't quit successfully. It got me wondering whether it was really in the interests of the nicotine gum company to have me quitting the gum as well. Did you know you can quit smoking for as little as $10 with the right method?
What Is The Right Method?
By "Right Method," I am talking about methods that have been proven to work over the years, methods that have survived the tests of time and have been working for millions of people for decades, yet for some reason, I really don't know why, they do not get as much press as fads such as e cigarettes or other new gizmos that seem to be more expensive than the previous ones.
Some people can go cold turkey... Some people need that extra help. Nice read here Dom!
