Quitting smoking is something that is very hard to do and it is harder to do it without using any kind of product that makes it easier. The health branch of the United Nations, the World Health Organization, says that only 1 in 20 people who try to stop smoking without using any kind of product to stop smoking will be able to stop smoking for one complete year. The rest will relapse sometime. While it is possible to quit without any help it sure makes it a whole lot easier to try while using some sort of product to stop smoking. Cost should not really be a worry because you will spend thousands on cigarettes if you do not stop smoking and the damage done to your health is irreversible.

There are some steps you can take that can make it easier for you to stop smoking using sheer willpower. One thing you should try and do is write down all of the different reasons why you should quit smoking. You should right down the benefits that you want to get when you quit smoking. You should look at these every day and imagine what it would be like to enjoy these benefits. This should make it easier to keep your eyes on the goal, when the going gets tough and you are craving for another smoke.

Another tip on how to stop smoking you can use is to ask your friends and family to help you to stop smoking. While some people can be judgmental, you should ask them not to be and you should ask them to support you through the hard times. When you are quitting it is likely that you may get very irritable and irrational so you should let them know so that they won’t take your behavior to heart.

You should also learn what triggers your desire for a cigarette also. Once you know what sets off your desire for a cigarette you can make an effort to avoid that trigger. If it is something like stress which makes you want to smoke you can try something like hypnosis to help you. Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness in which you are deeply relaxed and this can help you to get rid of your stress.

There are many things which can help you to stop smoking and you do not have to do it through willpower. You should definitely explore the different options to help you to stop smoking before you make a decision and you should stick without choice.
