Racquetball Strategies

Today I am going to be talking a little bit about some good strategies for racquetball, I hope that I can help improve your game a little.

Using strategies while you play can be a little hard at first because all your trying to do in the beginning is get to the ball. I am going to assume that you have played a little but if you haven't, you can still get a lot out of this. Actually it will definitely give you a leg up on your pals.

Your conditioning is a pretty important factor, speed and endurance is a must, so do some aerobics, ride a bike, stair master or whatever is available for you to get in shape so you can use some of these tips to there full potential.

Always want to be number one, don't settle for second. No one remembers second place anyway and there's nothing wrong with wanting to win. However if you do happen to lose and this will happen from time to time, I guarantee it, don't worry about it, be a good sport and go and win your next one. Learn why you lost and develop so you wont lose next time.

If you can, try to play different players. If you play the same players all the time you will get lazy and predictable and in racquetball that's no good. You want to catch the other player off guard. I know where I play its hard to find new people to play so you just have to mix things up more so as not to get predictable

Use serves wisely, don't always drive serve the first serve and lob serve the second, mix it up so you catch your opponent off guard. Use a variety of lob and drive serves, don't always use the same serve. Jam serves are really good and if perfected are a great strategy.

When your playing in a rally remember this, if a ball comes at you and its up high, don't try and hit a kill shot. Hit a high lob pass or a ceiling ball that drops before the back wall. Same goes for a shot around your knees, hit a good pass shot back at that level. Anytime you see a low shot coming try and hit a good kill shot like a pinch or down the line. Its funny because its easier said than done but its the right choice. The right shot in the right place does not have to be a hard shot.

This racket ball strategy is one of my favorites. After I got taught this strategy, my game improved quite a bit. When you hit the ball, you need to use your hips and twist like a golfer and when you come around with your racquet, you snap your wrist. I used to think it was my arms but its your core and that snapping of the wrist that gives you a powerful shot when you need it.

Lastly if your weakness is lets say your backhand, then practice that and not where your strength is.Get all of your weaknesses to be strong and you will be unbeatable. I hope these racquetball strategy tips will help you like they have helped me.

Cheers Paul.
