Starter is a dish mainly served before the main course. Starter dishes consists of bite size pieces of grilled vegetables or cottage cheese, fritters or small munching foods which you can keep having till the end of the meal. We usually tend to have starters when we attend a wedding or a party or when we go for a dinner or lunch in a hotel. I have got you some amazing starter recipes which are worth trying at home specially when you are expecting guests or planning a house party. These easy food recipes will do wonders if you try them at home.

Stir Fried Chilli Chicken

Ingredients:

2-3 Tbsp oil

4 cloves garlic, chopped

3-4 red and green chillies, chopped

1 cup chicken, cut into bite sized uniform pieces

2 tsp chilli sauce

4 tsp tomato puree

Soy sauce, a dash

1 tsp sugar

7-8 basil leaves

Method:

1. In a pan add oil. Add chopped garlic, chilies and sauté.

2. Add the chopped chicken and let it cook for a minute. Coat the chicken with all the garlic and chilies. Add a little salt in that and toss.

3. Once the chicken is almost cooked add chili sauce, tomato puree, soy sauce and sugar. Cook till the sauce starts to reduce.

4. Add basil at the end and stir. Serve this mouthwatering dish hot.

Cheese Balls

Ingredients:

1 cup cheese-grated

2 eggs

1/4 cup refined flour

1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp baking powder

Oil for frying

Method:

1. Mix all the ingredients except the oil, and beat to a fluffy batter.

2. Rest in a cool place about 15 minutes.

3. Heat the oil and deep fry spoonfuls of the batter to a golden color, first at high then medium. So here’s another quick starter recipe ready to eat.

Aloo And Dal Ki Tikki

Ingredients:

500 gm boiled and mashed potato

3 slices of white bread

Salt and red chili to taste

All ground spice (Garam masala)

1/2 tsp cumin powder

1/2 tsp coriander powder

1/2 cup chana dal (parboiled)

Green chili (finely chopped)

Lemon juice

Coriander for garnish

Method:

1. Crumble bread slices in a bowl.

2. Add mashed potatoes, chana dal, coriander leaves, lemon juice and chilies.

3. Spice it up with cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt and few drops of oil.

4. Mix it well. Shape into round flat patties and fry golden brown.

Serve these hot Aloo tikkis with ketchup and chutney.

Microwave Paneer Tikka

Ingredients:

1 kg paneer cubes

2 tsp garlic paste

2 tsp ginger paste

1 tsp chaat masala

2 tsp chili powder

1 tsp powdered black pepper

1 tbsp salt

A few drops of red color

3 Tbsp vinegar or 1 cup yogurt

Oil for brushing

1 lemon-quartered

1 onion sliced into rings for garnish

Method:

1. Mix the masalas in the yoghurt and leave for 20-30 minutes.

2. Place a saucer like plate, greased in a bigger plate.

3. Arrange the paneer pieces along the edge and cook, uncovered on high for 4 minutes.

4. Turnover, brush with a little oil and cook again on high for 4 minutes and serve.
