Although Yuzu juice can in some occasions be difficult to find outside of Japan, most restaurants know where this type of juice can be found. There are two great ways to make Ponzu sauce. One the traditional way and the other, with regular citrus juice lemon flavor, will be a great mix. In the following I will explain the traditional and regular easier way to make Ponzu sauce.

Ingredients For Ponzu Sauce With Regular Citrus Juice:

First, you will need 1/3 of soy sauce in a cup.

The second needed ingredient will be ¼ of lemon juice in a cup. If you wish, you can choose a different citrus flavor.

The Traditional Ponzu Sauce

Some people are very picky when it comes to Ponzu sauce. They tend to always try the Authentic traditional sauce when it comes to eating sushi. They will either order a different meal, one known as Chicken Yakitori.

The Ingredients:

You will first need, 3 tbsp of mirin known as “sweet rice wine”.

Then the second ingredient needed are 2 tbsp of rice vinegar.

Third ingredient needed, 1 tbsp of soy sauce.

The fourth ingredient needed is 2 tbsp of bonito flakes.

The last ingredient will be ¼ of fresh lime juice or Yuzu. More can be added depending on your choice.

The Way To Prepare:

The first thing that is needed will be a saucepan. Then in the saucepan combine the soy sauce, vinegar, mirin and bonito flakes, let it boil to medium heat. After it is done boiling, make sure the saucepan is removed from the heat. Grab a strainer and start pouring the sauce into your bowl. Get rid of the bonito flakes, they will be useless. This should take about 10 minutes of cooking and 5 minutes to prepare. The last thing that is needed to be done is add fresh Yuzu or lime juice of your choice.
