Summer is just round the corner! It will soon be that time of the year when the unbearable heat can hardly let us concentrate on anything. In a hot country like India, bearing the summer heat can take a toll on our bodies. So it’s all the more important to keep ourselves energized with cool summer drinks. Lassi is an all time favourite when it comes to our searches about healthy food recipes and drink recipes. Though lassi is undoubtedly loved by one and all, the same sweet and salty lassi can become monotonous after a period of time. Indians often search for lassi recipes with a twist. Hence, I bring you some of the best simple recipes of lassi which will make you go whoa!
Mango Lassi
Ingredients:
1 cup (230 grams) plain, non-fat yogurt
3/4 cup (170 grams) pureed mango
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
4-5 ice cubes
Method:
Blend all the ingredients in a blender until smooth and serve chilled.
Orange Lassi
Ingredients:
2 oranges, juiced
1 cup fat free yogurt
1 cup of nut milk or regular milk
1 very ripe small banana, chopped
Salt
2 tbsp orange liquor
2 tbsp honey
a few drops of orange blossom water
4 ice cubes
Method:
Blend all the ingredients in a blender until smooth and serve chilled.
Papaya & Honey Lassi
Ingredients:
1 cup plain, non fat yogurt
1 cup fresh papaya, chopped
1-2 tablespoons honey
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon or cardamom
4-5 ice cubes
Method:
Blend all the ingredients in a blender until smooth and serve chilled.
Chocolate & Almond Lassi
Ingredients:
200 gms chilled thick yogurt
2 tbsp water
100 gms dark chocolate chunks
4 tbsp nutella at room temperature
2 tbsp cocoa powder
8 to 9 roasted almonds sliced
2 tbsp caster sugar or brown sugar
Salt
Few ice cubes
Method:
Heat a mixture of chocolate, cocoa and nutella in a microwave until they melt. Allow it to come to room temperature. Add the almonds, sugar, yoghurt and ice cubes. Blend this mixture in a blender until smooth and serve chilled.
Nepali Lassi
Ingredients:
2 cups plain yogurt
1 cup milk
Fresh mint leaves
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt
Few ice cubes
Method:
Blend all the ingredients in a blender until smooth and serve chilled.
Caramel Espresso Lassi
Ingredients:
2 cups (560ml) chilled milk
1/3 cup (80g) Greek yoghurt
2 tablespoon maple syrup
½ teaspoon ground cardamom
100ml caramel flavoured espresso
Salt
Ground cardamom
Method:
Blend the milk, yoghurt, maple syrup, cardamom and half of the espresso in a blender until smooth. Pour in glasses. Pour the remaining espresso over the lassi and sprinkle some salt.
