Common Relationship Problems And What You Can Do About Them

No matter who you are, unless you live alone in a cave somewhere, you are going to have relationship problems. It’s not fun, but it is a part of life. Just because a relationship has a few problems doesn’t mean it needs to be over. Any relationship can be made better if you are willing to put some effort into it.There is any number of symptoms that your relationship is in trouble. Among the most commonly seen are:

· Settling scores

· Power battles between partners

· Manipulation

· Control issues

· Not treating your mate the way you want to be treated

· Always having to be right

· Undermining the other person in any way

· ‘Using’ the other party

· Having to have things ‘your way’ all the time

· Abuse – whether it is mental, emotional, financial, or physical

How do you deal with relationship problems and keep the relationship healthy and happy? You need to learn to fix the small things while they are still small things. Keeping your mouth shut and letting your hurt feelings fester will kill your relationship over time. You may find yourself acting out and being spiteful to your partner. That is never a good thing.

Fixing Relationship Problems

1. Admit there are problems

2. Communicate with your partner openly and honestly about how you feel.

3. Troubleshoot the problems together and come up with a plan you can both live with.

4. If you can’t come up with a good plan together, ask someone you both trust for advice. If you don’t have someone like that you could try to find a book or other program for fixing relationship problems.

5. Be willing to compromise and to stick to whatever agreements you make with your mate.

An important thing to remember is that communicating doesn’t mean yelling at each other. You have to talk to each other calmly. Each of you must decide to listen and accept your partner’s feelings without getting angry. If the situation gets to the point of raised voices or hurt feelings take a ‘time out’ until you can be calm. There is a lot riding on your ability to work things through like adults it can be the difference between being happy and breaking up.

You can have a great relationship if you learn to communicate effectively with your mate. Remember, no relationship is perfect; they all have their ups and downs. Fixing relationship problems isn’t all that hard if you are willing to work together and try.
