How To Make Your Ex Jealous - Think First!

If you want to recover from a breakup and give yourself the best chance to get back together with your ex, you probably recognize that the path ahead is going to be less than simple. It's a hard process to overcome a breakup and completely turn it around in your favor. Fortunately, it's not an impossible process. The problem is that a lot of people go into it with unrealistic expectations. They think that if they behave a certain way or do a few steps that things are magically going to change. That's not being realistic. The truth is that winning back an ex requires a lot of patience, a lot of tenacity and a lot of nerve, as well as the ability to side-step common mistakes that could trip you up and potentially cost you your chance overall.

When it comes to the full spectrum of interpersonal emotions, it's no surprise that jealousy tops the list. It tips the scales in one direction or another, and almost never marks a middle ground. No matter how it's used, however, it's very unpredictable. If you're intentionally trying to spark a fire by planning a seed of jealousy in your ex's mind, you may end up with an out-of-control wildfire before you know it and you may be caught up in the inferno. If you're going to use jealousy effectively and safely, you can't just cast a wide net. You need to plan your moves cautiously and use it sparingly to have the most positive effect possible - without losing yourself in the process. When it comes to your ex, the most common way to use jealousy is often to start dating someone else. Can that really work effectively?

It depends on your definition of effective. Sure, jumping full swing into a new relationship can make your ex jealous. If they still have any feelings for you whatsoever, jealousy is almost a given - even though they chose to end the relationship. Does that mean that you should try it just to get a reaction? Nope.

If you try to manipulate your ex's emotions by attempting to make them jealous at will, it's going to end badly - but you're the only one that's going to have to deal with the blowup. It doesn't matter how well you try to cover your tracks - the truth has a way of coming out. If your ex falls for it, is that really a good way to begin a relationship - through lying and manipulation? It's almost guaranteed to fail - again - and then you're going to be left with nothing, just like now. The only difference is that you will have no options and no recourse. It will have ended, badly, and you'll have no one but yourself to blame.

Choosing to date again after a potentially damaging breakup is a very personal decision. Sometimes it can help you move on. Sometimes it can give you the freedom to explore your options and get into the swing of things again. The bottom line is that it's a choice that only you can make - and you need to make that choice based on yourself and not on the potential reaction of your ex.

After a breakup, you're particularly vulnerable. The thought of leaving the comfort and security of your house is not high on the list of your priorities - but ultimately it's going to be what moves you forward, instead of stagnating in the same pool indefinitely. Social interactions are a valuable tool on the road to recovery, and they can even make you seem a lot more attractive to your ex than you would be if you were still on the couch in the fetal position.

There is no law that defines a set amount of time before you start dating again. There is no countdown that starts ticking away the moment your relationship ends and if you don't date before the buzzer, you're in trouble. You don't want to jump into a relationship just to try and make yourself feel better, and you definitely don't want to do it with the sole intent of creating jealousy in an ex. If you do decide to give it a try, make sure you're doing it for you - to boost your confidence, put yourself back out there or to just get to know someone new. Ultimately, you're the person that matters in this process, not your ex.

Even if you were slow to hop on the dating bandwagon, that doesn't have to mean that your ex isn't going to be jealous. While other emotions may fade over time, jealousy is generally unpredictable and can pop up when least expected, taking everyone by surprise. If your ex runs into you and sees you with someone else, you may be shocked to see how quickly they make an effort to get in touch again. It's all a matter of timing, of taking the risk and waiting for the reward.

While jealousy may be a target emotion for the more vindictive, it should be low on your list of options if you're serious about rebuilding your relationship. It may be more beneficial to try one of the other many options available to get your ex's attention and never have to put jealousy into play. Understanding the fact that you have many different options available can alleviate a lot of the pressure you're placing on yourself, which leads to a higher degree of comfort and self-assurance which will exponentially increase your chances of success.

What To Do Next

If you still want to know how to make your ex jealous you should stop and think about the consequences before you proceed. There is a much better way to win your ex back and it doesn't have to resort to petty mind games. All you have to do is to start seeing things from your ex's perspective. It is that simple. Understand why they dumped you and you will be able to put things right in a more effective way.

During this time you should also be aware of how your ex feels about you. Noticing signs ex still loves you will help a lot, let you know you are on the right path and stop you from making a fool of yourself.
