Rebuilding Your Relationship After A Breakup

Most of us have gone through a breakup at one time or another and can probably agree that it is not easy to do so. It’s even tougher if you still care about the person. So what do you do when you are still attached emotionally to your ex and would like to make another attempt to salvage the relationship and rebuild it?

Here are some excellent tips that will help you to rebuild your relationship after a break up:

Give a sincere apology. Most likely during the time of the break up there was some tension and negative words spoken. In order to begin rebuilding or even considering working things out, offer a sincere apology. It is best if both parties apologize for any words or actions that have hurt the other, as this gets the rebuilding phase going nicely. When you can take responsibility for your own actions and the part you played in the failure, mending can begin.

Pros and cons.

Both of you ought to sit down and analyze the relationship. What were the pros and cons? What character defects are to be dealt with before trying again? Are you both willing to change the areas that need changed?

Compromise.

Chances are you broke up because one or both of you were annoyed at certain areas of the other. The blame game occurs often in relationships. Sure, you love each other, but you point fingers at one another and blame your unhappiness on the other. In order to rebuild the relationship, you need to come to a compromise in certain areas that you did not see eye to eye on before. Compromise allows you both to dismantle your ego and allow humility to be the guide in your relationship.

Communication.

This may be the most important factor in rebuilding a relationship. If you do not sit down and have some heart to heart conversations, you are most likely to fail in trying again. You must make the effort to talk and get things off your chest. If you have to cry, cry. If you have to raise your voice a little, raise your voice. Get those negative feelings out there on the table and discuss them honestly. Then, once you do start rebuilding, keep the lines of communication open.

Trust.

You will both have to clear the slate and begin trusting each other again. Maybe he hurt you and maybe you hurt him, but in order to move forward you will have to make a decision to trust each other again. It may take some time, but little by little this can be done.

See a counselor.

If you think your issues are beyond your scope of fixing, think about seeing a counselor that specializes in relationships. Counselors have a way of helping you to communicate honestly and address the core issues that need addressed. You may only need a few sessions in order to get the ball rolling again nicely.

Rebuilding your relationship after a break up will take time, effort, and dedication. It will also take a good bit of humility and trust. It might not go exactly as planned, but you can rebuild your relationship little by little utilizing these and additional relationship tips.
