Should You Delete Your Ex On Facebook After The Break Up?

The Ins And Outs Of Remaining Friends With Your Ex On Facebook

When the relationship concludes, a question you may be asking yourself is what should your next step be. Should you delete your ex on Facebook? You may be asking yourself if you should completely cut your ex off and unfriend them on Facebook. Jumping the gun is easy to do after a breakup, you should refrain from doing this. Take a step back and let the dust settle, repairing a broken social media connection is a lot harder than breaking one.

These are valid questions that most people ask after a breakup. Do not stress yourself out worrying about what is essentially a trivial matter. You should view a Facebook connection with your ex as a foot in the door, a window into their life and a possible avenue to re-establishing a connection with them down the road. You do not want to appear to vindictive or spiteful, this will greatly hinder your chances of reconnecting with your ex in the future.

Facebooking Your Ex - How To Proceed

Most people put a disproportionate amount of emphasis on social media connections with their ex after a breakup. It should not be the major issue that most people make it. Go with the flow and show that you have enough strength of character to remain friends on Facebook. Your ex will respect you for this and in the long run it may lead them to question the breakup and rekindle the relationship.

Burning bridges may be a normal reaction to a breakup, but that doesn't mean that it is the right one. You have to remain rational, weigh up the situation and keep lines of contact open. Acting in a childish fashion will make your ex think that the breakup was a good idea, it will make them think that they have had a lucky escape. Don't let the heat of a moment overpower your rational mind, remain calm, reasonable and available for re-connection.

What should your course of action be? Put simply, just leave things as they stand. Do not bombard your ex with messages, this will make you seem desperate. If your ex thinks that you are desperate they will keep their distance from you and may even unfriend you on Facebook as a result. If they don't contact you then you should say nothing at all , add as little as possible to your profile and let them wonder what you are up to. Eventually your ex will be prompted to break the ice, their curiosity will get the better of them. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Piquing Your Ex's Interest Again

This is crucial if you want to get your ex back again, and doing it through Facebook is a brilliant way to achieve this. This is why you have to be smart about it and try to be patient. Willpower is crucial here, you cannot just randomly message your ex asking them how they are and try to get a response from them - it will never work out as positively as you had imagined in your head.

Instead you should be working on making yourself seem mysterious to your ex. This is how they viewed you at the start of your relationship. Everything that you said or did was magical to them and they wanted to know more. You were interesting to them and over time that interest had waned. It is only natural, but there are ways that you can get your ex interested in you again if you do it right.

Do achieve this you will have to keep your distance from Facebook and any other means of contact COMPLETELY. There are no excuses here. Posting constant status updates and trying to write something mysterious which is loaded with meaning will not fool anyone, least of all your ex. You don't want them to think that you are playing mind games with them and trying to provoke a reaction from them - that will only make you look childish and sad.

If you manage to stay away long enough your ex will naturally start to become interested in you again. They will not be able to help themselves from messaging you or picking up the phone. You will be on their minds and they will wonder what you have been up to. They might be a little paranoid too, they don't want to think that you have moved on already whilst they are still checking your Facebook wall for updates. This will make you attractive to your ex again and this is what you want.

What Do I Do Now?

Being dumped is never easy and something that you will need to learn to come to terms with quickly if you are serious about getting your ex back. There are loads more things that you can do to make your ex realise that they made a mistake.

You should always be on the look out for signs ex still loves you. This will allow you to know where to go from here and where you stand with your ex - the last thing that you want to be doing is making a fool of yourself. You will also have to understand how to make your ex want you if you are to stand any chance of succeeding, you can do this through Facebook too. Prepare to see a drastic change in the way your ex views you after you implement these strategies.
