This is a strange question and with it I have to give a strange answer. The strangest answers in the world are the answers that are questions. My question is which Heaven are you trying to go to? This question is usually unheard of when it comes to over 97% of my Christian brothers and sisters. It is because many people have heard the term “heaven” thrown around so much they only figure heaven is a place beyond the sky where God dwells. While this is very true, the bible does speak of additional heavens and this is what we want to define before I share with you how to go to Heaven.
Which Heaven? In 2nd Corinthian chapter 12 and verse 2, Paul talks about his experience with Christ and Paul described seeing Jesus as one who was caught up into the 3rd Heaven. To imply a third all mathematicians and people like me know there must be a one and two. So when the question is asked how to go to Heaven, we now see this has to be specified in which Heaven the subject wants to visit or be. If there are three heavens, where are they? Paul refers to the 3rd Heaven as powerful God-like place, because Jesus appeared to Paul in great brightness, the brightness you have when you are God. So the third heaven must be the location of the Father and the angels and where Jesus currently sits at the right hand.
The second heaven was given to us in the book of Genesis during the creation story. God created the sun, moon, stars, and elements of the sky and what humans call outer space; and God called this Heaven (Genesis 1 v7-8). Every time we send a man or woman to the moon, we are sending them out into the second heaven. Where on earth is the first heaven then? On earth! We are always looking for a heaven on earth and this is exactly the case. Remember the peaceful scenery of the Garden of Eden; we have to keep in mind it was first on the earth.
Jesus has a strong desire to dwell on the earth (Psalm 132). In different scriptures when the Lord is set to recover His people, He says He will bring them back from each coast of heaven under the sun. This is the earth. God has been trying to live on the earth but man has not been ready for such a friendly yet powerful neighbor, which is man’s Creator.
Will you get to go to the third heaven? Jesus says no. In St. John 13 and verses 33, Jesus says, “you little children, still a little while I am with you. You shall look for me: and as I told the Jews, where I go, you cannot come; so now I say to you.” Jesus was referring to His death and resurrection and ascending to heaven to sit on the right hand of Power, which is the Father. That is in the third heaven. Man has never been there according to Jesus and man will never go there, according to the Master. Our options are relegated to heavens one and two. How to go to heaven number two is simple, load a rocket with NASA and off you go; but you’ll be back because the breath of life is not up there. You’d have to come back down to reload on oxygen. There is a short stint in which a few blessed and righteous people will meet the Lord in the air, in the clouds (1st Thessalonians 4 v17). However, we will all come back down to the earth and dress up the Kingdom of God.
The key is to go to heaven right here on the earth. Jesus promises to have a house of many mansions, which He has prepared for the bride (the Church), and He said He will come again. This is where we want to be in heaven with the Lord in His kingdom; when He brings New Jerusalem down as it is described in Revelation chapter 21. We will have a new heaven and a new earth and it will be beautiful. How do you get to New Jerusalem; you keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus the Christ. It is the easiest road map to heaven I’ve ever found. We know this by doing diligent bible study and you can to and know without doubt how to go to heaven.
