If you are one of the people who does not do a whole lot of reading of the bible or you read the bible like a freight train, or you read it subjectively; you may miss the answer to this question. One thing is a fact; the bible speaks of three places that it refers to as Heaven. So let’s take a look at where heaven is in the bible so we can be edified forever on this topic. While Paul was recanting his journey to Damascus when He was blinded by the light of Jesus; he says he knew the Messiah 14 years ago. Being blinded he probably has a vague memory because he was blinded but heard a voice.
So Paul was not sure if Jesus was there physically or speaking from Heaven or if Jesus was in full strength or in man form; only God knows (II Corinthians 2 v2-3). What Paul did know was that Jesus appeared as one caught up to the third heaven where Jesus had previously said no man has gone nor can go. We will look into the Paul out the body, in the body experience in another article; but for now we want to focus on what Paul said about the third heaven. If there is a third heaven; a logical thought is that there is a second and first heaven as well. We can’t get to three without touching two and one.
The third heaven is where the Father and Jesus dwell as well as the rest of the Holy Angels of God; this is where Jesus told His disciples that they cannot go where He is going after His death; and also where He says no man has been to heaven except He that came down from Heaven. So where is the second heaven? In the beginning when God was preparing the earth and heaven; He created a firmament in the middle of the waters and had it divide the waters from the waters. The firmament that divided the waters on the earth from the other waters God called Heaven. This is a big reason why man cannot go up to God, there is a large body of water beyond the place we call outer space.
How do we know this is one of the three heavens? Look what was placed in the Heaven; lights to divide the night, signs, seasons, days, and years. God gave the sun for greater light and moon for lesser light, and the stars as well; so this identifies that this is the second heaven (Genesis 1). So where is the first heaven? In Deuteronomy chapter 30, the Lord speaks about returning the children of Israel back to their land and reversing the captivity by gathering them from all the nations they were scattered to. He says in verse four; it does not matter if they were driven out to the outmost parts of heaven; the Lord will go there and gather them to bring them home.
This is followed up in Matthew 24 v29-31 where Jesus says His Holy Angels will gather His elect, the children Israel and/or the church of God and bring them back to Him as He will be on His way to Jerusalem. What we were looking for is the fact that God called the earth heaven; this is the first heaven. Where is heaven in the bible is a question that needs more clarification, where is the first heaven in the bible, where is the second heaven, and where is the third heaven in the bible. We now know where they are and this is why the Kingdom of God will be in Heaven; heaven on earth!
God bless you… in Jesus name. Amen
