The New Age Of Wrenches

Wrenches have come a very long way since they first started making them. In the late 1800's and the early 1900's wrenches were made for the specific nut or bolt. Ya that's right, hand made, an every time someone changed the size of a nut or bolt, a new wrench had to be made. These days are not like that at all. Now we have wrenches that basically work for us. Besides the fact that we still have to turn them (that is hand tools, we have power tools now!) your basic wrench will move any way you want.

With the common wrench you get a solid, straight piece of steel with no moving parts. With the new advancements we get a wrench that can bend, ratchet, and even self adjust.

The adjustable wrenches we are all used to using have that little wheel in the middle, it hurts your thumb, and every time you get it on the nut or bolt, it gets all loose then you have to readjust and........ Ya it bugs sometimes. Ha ha. This new wrench is so nice, all you have to do is push a button and it self adjusts. Push again and it releases. Talk about easy work.

They have also made huge advancements to the other basic wrenches. With the old ones you put it on the nut or bolt, turn a little, take the wrench of, readjust, repeat. This is hard work and hard to do when you have little to no room to turn the wrench. New wrenches give you a big advantage in these situations. I briefly mentioned before wrenches can now bend! No its not a magic trick and no they don't bend like rubber, but they do have pivot point to where you can bend the head of the wrench to get in tight spots. They also have ratcheting action now. The box (or closed-end) of the wrench has a small ring inside riding on tiny bearings allowing it to turn, and giving you the ability the use you wrench like a socket wrench.

This is what I think is one of the best things they have done. They found a way to make the open end of a wrench ratchet as well. No more tediously taking the wrench off and putting it on and turning little by little to get no where. With double ratcheting wrench sets it makes it easier for all of us to save some cash and work on things ourselves. What do you think?
