Vehicle Safety Tips For Winter Driving

When it comes to vehicle safety tips for winter driving you are looking at an entirely different perspective then driving in the summertime.

Lets face facts and understand that being exposed for too long to cold weather because of breaking down could very well mean death. We hate to think that way but it really is a fact.

You need to make sure your vehicle is ready for the winter months but you also need to know that your mind is ready as well.

I come from a place that sees a lot of snow and a lot of cold weather. I drive a big four wheel drive truck and it just rocks my socks when I get these so called soccer moms passing me while driving their mini vans. It even makes it worse when I see child seats in the van.

Bottom line is every year you need to take some steps to make sure you are ready for winter driving. The vehicle could be brand new or ten years old. It still has to be checked over to make sure the vehicle safety tips are the ones that could possibly save your life.

You need to make sure your battery is good to go. Get the summer washer fluid out and have it replaced with winter fluid. Make sure the tires you have on will get some grip on the stupid icy roads that are about to kick you in the butt. Make sure your antifreeze is ready for at least 40 below.

You want to make sure you carry items that will help you in case you get stranded in the cold for a while. More then likely the biggest tool you should always carry with you is a cell phone. However there are still people that dont have cell phones and there are still areas that you cant get service in so you need to be prepared in other ways as well.

Make sure you have warm clothes, have blankets, gloves, candles, extra food, flares as well.

When you leave home a great vehicle safety tip is making sure people know where you are going. Make sure they know what time you are leaving and what time you are expected to arrive.

You really need to focus on what you are doing. You also need to focus on what the drivers around you are doing. You really can drive inncident free if you put in the effort. At the end of the day please take your time and take care of your self. Take care of your vehicle safety tips and your vehicle will take care of you.
