The 2015 Rugby World Cup has already kicked off and children’s charity, Wooden Spoon, have created a Rugby World Cup Predictor App to help fans get even more out of the rugby tournament.
The Rugby World Cup, founded in 1987, will have all of its live games played by the broadcasting host ITV, as well as on forty three other free-to-air broadcasters. The tournament began on September 18th and will end on October 31st with the winning rugby team receiving the William Webb Ellis Cup.
The predictor app has been created for use on Apple devices such as the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. Devices must be running on iOS 7 or later, to download the app from iTunes. Very little spare user memory is needed as the app’s size is just 11.6MB.
Rugby World Cup Predictor App
The Rugby World Cup Predictor App allows Apple owners to set up their own local league where points are awarded for correctly guessing the results of the rugby matches. Once the local league is created the owner can send out invites to friends and family members who may like to compete and show off their game predicting skills.
The app also includes a World League showing worldwide rankings.
Points are awarded for predicting the three scoring elements of the game:
- Earn points for correctly predicting the winning team of each rugby match
- Earn points for correctly predicting the number of tries scored by each rugby team for each game
- Earn a varying number of points depending on how closely the final score is predicted
The user interface of the app is simple to use with a series of tabs across the top of the screen. These include tabs for predicting the match results during the groups, quarter finals, semifinals and the Rugby World Cup final.
Children’s charity Wooden Spoon
Wooden Spoon have helped over one million children with life-limiting medical conditions and children who have grown up in areas of severe social deprivation. Wooden Spoon allocates funds to medical care, other charities and community projects. These have totaled over 650 in number with over £22 million distributed.
Wooden Spoon was founded in 1983 following England’s rugby team defeat in the finals of the Five Nations Championship. A group of English supporters were issued with a wooden spoon consolation prize by Irish supporter friends. Accepted in good faith, the wooden spoon trophy was played for several months later in a golf match and the proceeds raised by the event gave birth to the Wooden Spoon charity.
The Rugby World Cup Predictor App has been created by Apps Plus for Wooden Spoon.
