If you attended the Boston Marathon, you may have picked up some souvenirs, such as a T-shirt or a coffee mug. When you bought them, you imagined having some great items to show off to your friends. When the magic of the race was over and you were back to your normal everyday life, however, you came to the realization that the items from the marathon were just things--things that you could sell to improve your life. You then started thinking about what you might do once you sold the items and got the money.
One thing you might do, you thought, is add some clothing to your wardrobe. You could buy another pair of New Balance shoes, which will allow you to continue running. You could also buy some new T-shirts for the warmer months. There are also some other items of clothing that need to be replaced. With these new pieces, you will feel comfortable and more confident. Buying clothing is not the only plan that you had for the money from your marathon items, however.
You were also considering saving the money so that you would have more money to live on. If you had more money, it would be easier to pay your bills. You could keep your Internet access, which would allow you to publish regularly, check your email, and keep up with what people are talking about on Twitter. You could keep your television service, which would allow you to enjoy your favorite shows, like "The King of Queens". Finally, you could travel more.
Then, suddenly, in the middle of your planning and dreaming, another thought crossed your mind. It is way too soon to consider selling your items from the marathon, considering that the race and the fateful bombing that forever changed many lives happened on Monday. People lost loved ones. They are still grieving. Those who survived are still recovering from the very scary event. They are relieved to be alive, and they realize that they could have been killed.
Please have some respect, and give these good people some time to get their lives back together. Selling items is a good way to get some money. You will likely find some items that you can sell if you look around your house. You can also check out garage sales in your area this weekend. The items you find may help you. You can sell them and perhaps get the money you need to pay your bills. Then you may be able to breathe a little easier. If you wish to sell your marathon items, consider donating the funds from the sale to the families of the victims. This would be a thoughtful gesture and would be very appropriate during this difficult time.
