When putting on your running shoes, preparing to go for a run, there is a few things that we always check before we head out the door. The biggest one is the weather. It effects how we dress and and sets the tone on how the run could turn out. There are plenty of crappy weather conditions that we all try to avoid such as the extreme windy and the blazing hot. But I wanted to share with everyone my top 3 I love to run in.
#3 Cold and Sunny
I know what some of you are thinking, why would you like to run in the cold? But when you’re running you tend to heat up and keep yourself warm quite easily. Because of this it actually makes the run quite comfortable. Of course the wind needs to not be there. Cold and wind do not go well with each other. Sometimes, no matter the number of layers I wear the wind will cut through it.
There is just something about the ambiance of the surrounding when it is cold and sunny. The way the sun shines is just different. I love the way it looks and I enjoy those sunny cold runs.
#2 Mid-Summer Evening as The Sun Sets
Coming in at number two is the classic sunset. You really cannot get much better than being on a run on a country road, looking out over the field as the sky is darkening and the horizon is a mixture of pink, orange, and yellow. It the field you see the sparkle of the fireflies coming out. The air is cooling off and you feel so comfortable.
#1 Thunder Storms
Yes your heard right. Thunder storms are my number 1 weather condition I love to run in. to some people they are deathly afraid to be outside during a thunderstorm. Case and point, my wife is like this. She is scared for me on these runs. To me, there is nothing better than getting a whole lot of ran dumped on me when out on a run. Yes it may be a little dangerous. I have been out there before and had lightning strike within 50 meters of me. I find that thrilling and exciting.
Well there you have it, my top three weather conditions I enjoy running in the most. I hope that you will share your favorite runs and weather with me, and if you like what you read here visit my site at The Red Mules Running Specialist.
