I am writing this article because I want to convince you that running is one of the best things you can become an addict of. It is no surprise that it has become a very popular activity.
The hard part will be to make it a habit. In the beginning, you may have problems waking up earlier or finding the time to do this activity. But if you are really decided to make running a part of your life, no obstacle is going to be big enough. Here are some advantages of this activity:
Personal benefits
There are a lot of great things that will happen to your body once you become a runner:
- Your heart will be able to pump more blood with less effort
- Your blood will circulate better across your whole body
- You will be able to breath easier and your lungs’ air will be cleaner
- Your muscles will become stronger
- You may start losing some weight when your run is intense enough
The health implications are endless without taking into consideration the psychological and spiritual benefits which, overall, will make you a better person.
Family time
Running is also a good way to spend time with your loved ones and promoting a healthy activity. Assuming that you are all beginning to run, going as a family will help each other in the process and will keep every member motivated and concentrated.
5k, 10k races
Perhaps someone told you that taking part in a 5k or 10k competition is great, and maybe you are wondering: “Why all the fuss?”
Let me tell you that once you participate in your first event, you won’t want to do anything else. The kind of vibe and energy felt in a race like this is really impossible to describe. The runners give support and motivate each other, regardless if they are beginning to run or not. The spectators scream and cheer at any contestant whether they know him/her or not.
And even when you might feel weird or nervous at the beginning, you will notice that the good energy of the place and the people are going to take everything away. The best part is that, even if you will be tired to some degree when you cross the finish line, you will be joining the millions of people infected by the running virus.
Marathons, triathlons, iron men
These events are not for beginners and you need to train a lot to take part in one of them. I want to talk about them because after taking part in 5k and 10k, you might want to consider participating.
Triathlons and iron men fall into a different category of exercise, especially because they involve swimming and cycling which are not easy disciplines. However, they are also very popular competitions which attract a lot of contestants.
So my point is that if you have thought about beginning to run, you should start as soon as possible. You will soon understand why so many people have already become fans of this activity.
But before you do, please get informed. Take some time to search for a good running program for beginners and don’t underestimate it. You might end up hating this activity if you suffer any health issues as a result of a bad routine.
I would love to hear your opinion about this great activity. What experience you have in races and what keeps you motivated to wake up the following day and train again?
