Cooking and following recipes and generally, writing about food is not really my "thing".
However, this time I would like to share with you something that I truly enjoyed!
I have been on the Raw Journey for a while. In most of my adult life I have been vegetarian. Nothing crazy or very strict but I just don't like red meat. Meat in general, is very rare on my plate and even fish I not very often want to eat.
There are periods when I manage quite well eating raw and there are times when I just want to eat cooked food, have coffee and cake and there are days when I crave bread like crazy! However, most of the time I am very good having a Herbalife shake or freshly squeezed vegetable juice in the morning, eat a proper meal at lunch and something light in the evening. I was brought up in Hungary, where our main meal is lunch and we don't eat heavy or main meal for dinner before going to bed. There was a period after moving to Australia when I tried to have the main meal at dinner but I was not sleeping well. I don't even understand how people can have a huge meal before going to bed and sleep well?
Presently, I am trying to make myself as fit and healthy after a bad back problem as I can. In my experience, a good swim, some stretching in the morning makes a huge difference to my days and sitting at the computer seems to be the worse! However, I noticed that sugar, coffee don't have a good influence on my back problem! Lots of fresh fruit and vegetable, especially drinking wheat grass juice feels lovely! Increasing your water intake is absolutely crucial! One of the most important thing is to keep moving! At least 15 minutes walking a day releases a lot of the tension that is in the back muscles. I also got a back support that is called True Back that I use every day to stretch my back muscles that is making a big difference so I am more mobile in that area! Back problem is such a pain!
The other day I was out in one of my favourite cafe where there was a change of Chef. This change was definitely for the better! The Chef made this simple, clean food that I just absolutely adored! It was soooo delicious that I went back next day again to enjoy the delicious combination of flavours.
Here is the salad that I loved very much! Calamari with Aioli, with a Salad of shaved Fennel, Zucchini, Spanish Onion and Pine Nuts.
Really easy and quick to make it at home as well! You don't need to be a Master Chef to throw this together so give it a try! Enjoy!
Cheers, Piroska
