Here is a sales success strategy that really cannot fail.

While it has to do with positive thinking, it really goes beyond that.

And while thinking positive is essential for success in sales, or in any other field, even that won’t work for you unless you do something else.

This strategy for success has more to do with respecting the power of NEGATIVE thinking.

In fact, the ONLY thing that can prevent you from being a success in sales is thinking of yourself as unsuccessful.

Prospective customers want to do business with successful sales people because they presume, consciously or unconsciously, that if you are NOT successful, what you are selling must be inadequate or inferior.

Here is perhaps the best kept secret about success in selling: Success is mental.

You cannot feel unsuccessful without thinking of yourself as unsuccessful.

When you envision failure, your mind’s creative power produces your experience of failure.

Perhaps the most important sales tips you will ever learn are:

1. Notice what you are thinking

2. Let go of failure thinking

To let-go of failure thinking means dropping ideas, mental visions and concepts of yourself as less successful than you want to be.

As you apply these tips as your daily sales training self-help discipline, you will leave the experience of failure behind.

As you keep your mind clear of ideas of your sales professional defeat, you also keep your prospective customer’s mind free of that idea.

As you eliminate self-doubt you avoid inciting your prospect or customer to doubt you.

How you think and feel about yourself, your attitude toward yourself, your beliefs about yourself, radiate their influence.

You cannot keep a negative personal view of yourself a total secret.

It’s influence radiates from you and your prospects and customers will pick it up, if not consciously, certainly subconsciously.

And it is not just your thinking while you are with your client that matters.

To the extent that you feel insecure about yourself wherever you are, you will carry some of that insecurity with you wherever you go.

As I stressed in one of my recent sales team trainings: The most important thing you can do to achieve greater success in sales is to monitor your thinking all the time.

Your selling power will grow as you notice and let go of thoughts of disappointment, thoughts of discouragement and thoughts of defeat.

To harness the power of a positive mindset is certainly a great success strategy for the sales professional.

Use the power of positive visualization by envisioning yourself living in your desired destiny.

Take some time to relax and open your mind to mental scenes of your total, ideal success.

It may take a while for your vision of success to define itself clearly and sharply in your mind.

But as you work at it, you will be able to achieve your sales goals in your mind.

And the goal-achievement you conceive in your mind you can accomplish in your life.

But a positive attitude can quickly shift into a negative attitude.

Even as you try to envision success you might feel the fear of success.

You might worry that you will have too little time with your family, that you will have to push yourself too hard to maintain your level of success, that you will find a way to sabotage your success.

The moment you begin considering failure you begin programming your subconscious to set you on a course that leads to failure.

By applying the sales success strategy of discarding NEGATIVE thinking, you will realize that the only thing that can ever produce an experience of failure, is thinking of yourself as a failure.

This realization will help you to more fully apply the power of a positive attitude and remain free of a self-defeating mindset.
