A Game Of Thrones Filming on Iceland

Here is piece of news for all you people that loved watching HBO-s Game of Thrones series. Location for the filming of second season of the series is going to be in Iceland, near Vatnajökul - glacier in the southeast part of Iceland. And it will take place at the end of November this year.

Iceland and Morocco have been mentioned before as possible places for shooting to take place. Obviously, Iceland's abundance of snow, which is natural surrounding for most of events described in A Clash of Kings, book upon which this season will be based, made the difference.

It is revealed that Icelandic production company "Pegasus" will assist the show's crew. Currently extras have been sought to take part in the shooting. Again, good part of the book deals with Iron Man, which are described similarly to old Vikings, making people from that island perfect for the task.

Interesting thing is that for extras, men are preferred to be bearded and "warlike". So it is good guess, since in the book Northmen, Wildlings and Iron Man were described as bearded and battle hardened, and events that take place among them are bigger part of the book, that crew will spend lots of time there, filming most of the scenes from season two.

Off course not all of the scenes can be filmed there. Much of the plot unfolds in cities described as hot and sunny. So sooner or later crew will take the trip south. And, since there are lot of sets already built in Morocco, this is their most likely destination.

With the success of the first season, everyone expect the second to be even better. And there is now even more material for good action scenes: Dragons have been born, and we all wonder how will they be implemented in the series, there will be more battles, and this time Tyrion can not be knocked unconscious in the beginning and wake up at the end, because he commands one of the sides in that battle.

Every move HBO makes is carefully monitored by the army of George RR Martins loyal fans. And many that just watched the show are curious to see if the second season can be as good as the first. If you read A Clash of Kings, you know that it fulfills all the promises made in the first book, if you didn't - what are you waiting for? Regardless if you liked the series or read the book, one thing is certain, A Game of Thrones gave us first class epic fantasy adaptation on television, and there is no real reason not to continue doing so.
