Best Keyword Research Tool - What Data Do You Really Need?
Join 1000's of Authors at StreetArticles Today!

Without any doubts, the best keyword research tool is one that does not cost you a dime. In fact, it is always there with you everywhere you go. You might probably think it is one of those free tools the gurus carry about on the Internet. No, not at all! The best keyword research tool is the best asset that has been with you - it's your brain! Does that amuse you? Well, the truth is that your brain can help you even further than just following any tool blindly. I am not saying that you don't need any keyword tool, of course you do! Surely, you will need a keyword tool to give you an estimate of the search volume, competition, cost per click and other pieces of vital information. I really love the Google external keyword tool pretty much. It is available for free and very easy to use. I personally use it!

Most probably, I guess you want the best keyword research tool in order to make money online. In that case, you will need to come up with profitable keywords. The most ideal way to do this is to look critically into the problems people have online. Be it "issues on winning back one's ex", "issues on how to buy a bicycle online", "dating issues on getting her back" and so on. Take these problems very seriously. Now, input the subject into Google's keyword tool. You will be amazed to see a list of hundred keywords that people use to find answers for that subject. You can then filter the keywords that are related to a solution to the problem or a cure, using the best keyword research tool in your brain. The more targeted the keyword, the more you would find someone who will find what they need on your website and buy something.

One unique thing I must not fail to mention here about Google keyword tool is that, it can make your search very specific. For example, if your intention is to target the Arabian market, you can change both the language and location to choose your needs. In the end, Google will return Arabia keywords that are searched for in an Arabic country.

In addition, you also have the option of receiving broad keywords that are related to your term or only specific keywords that match your term. You can also search for words that are entered on mobile devices. You should then export the results you get to a spreadsheet.

Out of the columns you will see in Google keyword tool, choose the ones you are most interested in so that you can get more information about the best keywords for use. For example, if your website focuses on earning money through Google Ad sense, you will surely prefer to target phrases that will bring you more money. So, you will like to click on the Cost per Click, CPC, column to show you an amount of how much an advertiser will pay to get a top 3 ranking. I hope you know that a percentage of the CPC is for you if you use the keywords in your website and someone clicks on the ad. So, choose the right tool wisely and don't forget to use your brain, the best keyword research tool that you have in-built in you. Good luck!

Jaaxy is an excellent keyword tool that I use and it has been created with metrics in mind that truly matter, competition, traffic, and keyword quality.

I really enjoyed this article. Choosing the right keywords can boost readership of my articles and blog entries. I also enjoyed the fact you wrote about using keywords for promotion purposes also.

Hi Kyle, I face the exact same problem as Alex below me and I find this totally inappropriate. I have written a whole article based on my keyword and the moderator says that words like "best" are not allowed ruining my keyword and the time I spent. Ten minutes later I get the e-mail with your new article "Best keyword research tool". I do not mean to be offensive as well but I think that this should be solved right away and my article or other writer's who face the same situation should be approved. I hope this comment will not be removed. Waiting for your answer.

I had the same problem when trying to put a link to a Facebook page in one of my earlier articles (kind of curbed my enthusiasm a bit). Is it a case of double standards here?

I can tell you that this ARTICLE would not be approved if it were submitted today. As I stated to Alex, if you are describing a product or a service, best almost always will not be allowed because the underlying content is likely very promotional as well. There is a very fine line and with "best" type articles and if you submit one you can expect that the article may be disapproved.

Hi Kyle, I am not offensive, but it seems that moderator keeps double standard for its authors. You are the author and owner of this website. So you can use the word 'Best' in your title (Best keyword research tool....really need), but I can't use the word 'Best' in the titles of my articles. Moderator says that Street Article doesn't allow overly promoted titles, that's why the word 'Best' can't be used in the titles. And I had to change the title of one of my article. Now I am surprising how your article has been approved. If this comment is removed, I won't be surprised.

There is no double standard Alex. I do understand your frustration but there are definite ways around it. The reason we stopped allowing best is because we were moving away from promotional style articles. This article was one of the original articles and was written far before the rules and article titles cannot be changed after they have been approved (or I would not have done a title in this manner). I am not saying that Best is not allowed as a whole, but as a general rule of thumb avoid putting best in a title if you are describing a product or a service. You could have something like "What is the best way to remove stains". That would be fine.

Uhm, I thought "call to action" is not allowed?

It isn't, I will need to update this article as it was created before the rule changes. Thanks for pointing that out Emir! :)

Thanks for that quick response. And one more thing. You encourage us to post articles to social bookmarking and social networking. Will that not be termed a duplicate content? Thanks.

No George, because you are posting a link to your content within these mediums, not the actual content. This is completely fine and this can actually be of benefit to do.

I would like to know if it will be fine to have two different keywords in an article. Let say, I write a topic "How to move to Canada". And I discuss about studying in Canada and working in Canada as a means that one can use to move to Canada. Question: From this article, is it ok to use two keywords: studying in Canada and working in Canada

Reply

Yes, that is fine. Ideally you want the focus of your article to be on the reader side of things...make decisions based on the reader benefit not the actual keyword. I recommend you ave your keyword within the title and the first block of content, but write naturally.

Totally agree Kyle. Your brain is probably your best bet. Sometimes we doubt ourselves. Have confidence. Must read article.

I agree, the brain is a brilliant tool for researching keywords and niches online. We typically under utilize it however. Using the brain + a search tool like Jaaxy will lead to pure power though!
