Google Keywords Tool - Tips For Using The Tool

You need a keyword tool, like the Google keywords tool, to find the right keywords to target in your article marketing strategy. For example, the Google keywords tool can make a huge difference in the amount of quality traffic driven to view your articles. Actually, I use Google keywords tool to research my keywords before writing articles online; it has played a significant role in driving target traffic to my website and improve my sales.

Drawing on the huge set of data generated by Google, the Google keywords tool can give you a monthly global or regional estimate of the search traffic for various keywords. The tool can also provide you with a list of potential keywords based on your website, or better still, on the keywords you are considering. For example, the Google keywords tool can help you decide whether to focus on "quality laptops delivered overnight" or "overnight delivery of quality laptops", in order to meet the needs of your target audience. Here are some tips to bear in mind when using the Google keywords tool.

First, you need to use only exact, not broad, keywords. All I am saying here is that, you should focus on the particular word you are targeting, and should not use broad terms not relating to your products. Google keywords tool is meant for advertisers and not webmasters. As a result, you should filter your searches by exact match. This will make it very easy for you to get accurate search data for your keywords.

Another tip is to use your common sense to confirm competition. It is true that the little bar displaying estimated competition for a given keyword is a handy tool. However, the problem is that it reflects competition of the keyword purchase among advertisers, and not the actual difficulty of ranking high for the given keyword. Although keyword ranking and competition may be correlated, the truth is that the two may not always be in most cases. That's why a little cross-checking on your part will not hurt! Interestingly, it is a simple task. Search for the keyword and scroll through the first page of the results. Note the quality of the pages and how related they are to the keyword in question. It is easier to conquer a keyword if the pages are junkie and the apparent focus is much lower.

Don't forget what the Google keywords tool will keep from you. I am not saying the tool does not contain a mountain load of useful data, but just don't forget what it will not give you. I have learnt this lesson in a hard way. I can't count how many times I found what seemed like a juicy keyword. It had low competition and high search volume. However, I failed to consider the quality of the keyword. It never had valuable conversion and did not focus on my target audience. So, I suggest you take the Google keywords tool as only one of the tools in your arsenal. Your common sense should be a preset active filter as you evaluate keywords with the Google keywords tool. Learn from my mistake and success with the tool.
